Episode 101: Networking is Recruiting The Ty Brady Way

    • Entrepreneurship

On this episode of the Ty Brady Way, Ty talks about his experiences with recruiting, why he does it and how he does it.

Ty starts with the questions of how he was recruited. He briefly touches on how he lost everything and how he worked 17 different jobs from 2008-2009. Finally he landed a job at a fencing company. One day he got a lead and met the guy to discuss his fencing, but when he was leaving, the clients wife told him to speak to her husband about getting into insurance. Two days later he met with the regional manager and decided to go for it. Ty did leave after just under a year, but he then checked out Kellogg Insurance

Ty then talks about why he recruits and he talks about something his mentor Ron Kellogg told him, “the day you stop recruiting, the day your business goes backward”. He was also always told to “talk where your feet are”, as well as “it’s about duplicating yourself”. Ty goes with his gut rather than the dollars and cents when he’s recruiting

Finally, Ty talks about how he recruits. He uses all forms of advertising recruit. The aim is to tell people who he is and how he got there. It’s people who have been watching Ty which come onboard. Ty also says his wife is his greatest recruiter and he brags about him to the people around them. Ty also does speaking engagements, so he talks to high schools or local communities, again trying to work with the people around him
