On Again, Off Again Travel Beyond Retirement

    • How To

France decided early in her career that the regular 2 or 3 weeks of vacation that the usual 9-5 jobs offer simply isn't enough time to do all the travelling she wanted to do! So she set about figuring out how to get more time off.

She knew there were a few options for her:

* ask for extra time off from her employer (probably without pay)
* save up and quit her job and hope the job would be there when she returned from travelling
* save up and quit her job and find new work when she returned
* continue working 50 weeks a year and having 2 weeks off

She decided to save up and quit her job and after almost two years of travelling, she was hooked! From then on, it was a cycle of saving money and travelling.

She travels on her own now, and has a few interesting tips about solo travel - some specific to women, but most are valid for everyone. It's always nice to have a travel partner, at least for part of the time.

Of course, as she notes, it's hard to travel with someone else, because you have to adjust to their timetable a bit.

Listen to the whole episode! France discusses problems she's encountered, plans that she makes, and great travel tips for all travellers.

You can find France on Facebook [https://www.facebook.com/france.lemieux.71] or send her an email [france_dbs@yahoo.ca] if you'd like to ask her questions or see photos of some of her travels.
