The Bombers was formed by Alan Lancaster and John Brewster (The Angels) in the late 1980s. The lineup featured Lancaster, Brewster, Ty Coates, Steve Crofts and John Coghlan (Later Peter Heckenberg). The band supported Cheap Trick (1988), Alice Cooper (1990) and Skid Row (1990) on their tours of Australia. They released one album, Aim High, in 1990. A live album, Alan Lancaster's Bombers Live, was released by Barrel and Squidger Records in 2019. 

A new version of The Bombers formed in 2020 and released a new album called Man Down.
