In this episode, my guest is Michele Magee, a mentor of mine and a marketing and management executive with over 25 years of experience in the B2B and B2C space. She's helped launch and scale six different businesses in six different industries and has held senior leadership roles in two public companies, SolarCity and CBS. She is currently working as a consultant with start-ups, executives and entrepreneurs. On the show, Michele shares her learnings from leading the largest employee resource group at SolarCity, Women in Power, and provides tactical advice for women in leadership roles. She shares important links between adversity, confidence, and success, how a stool is a great metaphor for business, and what she means when she says one of her greatest insights is falling in love with now. One of the reasons I joined SolarCity in 2015 was because of its alignment with the organization GivePower, a non-profit committed to helping communities around the world that need it most. In GivePower's 6-year history, they have completed solar energy systems that power food production, clean water through desalination, electricity in schools, businesses and emergency services, as well as animal and land conservation efforts. Each Solar Water Farm they build can provide access to clean water for up to 35,000 people every single day. It has already changed the lives of thousands of villagers in Kiunga, Kenya. They've also powered over 2,650 schools across 17 countries, changing the lives of over 400,000 people!
