WORD: Journey (noun and verb)  

DEFINITION of Journey:  (noun)  an act of traveling from one place to another. "she went on a long journey" a long and often difficult process of personal change and development. "her spiritual journey towards Roman Catholicism"  (verb)  travel somewhere. "they journeyed south"  

Synonyms:  expedition, passage, travel(s), trek, trip, pilgrimage, tour, travel, trek, trip, voyage  

ETYMOLOGY of Journey:  “jour” comes from French and ultimately from Latin, where it has the meaning "daily; of or relating to one day.''   journee then evolves to mean a day’s travel or work - this is where the term journeyman comes from  journey then becomes a defined course of travel and metaphorical to life path and achievement.
