I'm getting into FKA twig's mixtape, CAPRISONGS, today because I've been obsessed and it has such a good message while also being fun and playful. Trigger warning for this episode I'm getting into some explicit-ish details about her relationship with Shia LaBeouf, which was very abusive, so the details can definitely be upsetting. She's done many interviews in order to be a voice for women who have had to deal with abuse, both physical and emotional. Her story is inspiring and she was able to use this mixtape as a cathartic experience to regain her self confidence, self identity, and to find the beauty in everyday life once again. It's such a relatable project because imposter syndrome, fear of failure, self doubt, and negative self talk, hold so many of us back, so listening to her lyrics and feeling the love and energy she put into this is empowering. I specifically get into 4 song from the mixtape - "meta angel", "oh my love", "lightbeamers", and "thank you song".
I also introduce a couple new segments, "Pick Me Patrol" and an unnamed one where I'll get into things that I felt I could've addressed better from the previous episode - So if there's ever anything you want me to clear up or expand on, email me, or dm me and let me know. This episode I expanded on the Cassie from Euphoria issue because I definitely forgot to finish my thoughts and ended up coming off as a Cassie apologist. I also give some more possibly hot takes on the show after watching episode 07.
I wrap everything up touching on the Kanye, Kim, and Pete Davidson situation, The Tinder Swindler, Khloe Kardashian, people pleasers, and how they all tie into narcissistic abuse, or just being taken advantage of in general.
