Special Guest: Leon Bateman Records & Bands

    • Music

In which one of our heroes looks back on his school days with an old friend while the other watches on a webcam. (which sounds kinda dirty.) We're joined in this episode by Leon Bateman, Rob's friend of nearly 30 years, to chat about the music that bonded them, sharing headphones and moving through life in different directions. Along the way, we touch on loads of artists and bands that we shared, some we didn't and a few that we'll always remember. We asked Leon to choose a few records to chat about so after some talk about Weezer and Wolfsbane we get into Pinewood Smile by The Darkness, Iron Maidens Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and the soundtrack album for A Star is Born (The Gaga one). This is a long one as Rob and Leon hadn't been in touch properly for a long time but the affection between friends is apparent. We do touch on some of the mental health issues both have faced and are dealing with and it wouldn't be a fair representation of our conversation if it was all edited out, but if that gets too heavy for you then there's always the story of how Leon become an Iron Maiden fan, without which he and Rob may never have become friends. (Aww Maiden Friend!!) Multiple Ways to follow Records & Bands Original Music by Alvin and the Angry Barrels. Listen to them on Spotify Artwork kindly provided by the beautiful man that is Jake
