We know a lot of people are focused on different aspects of what they're investing in, why they're investing, and how much they are investing. With that in mind we thought it would be important to talk about this because real estate has such great advantages in a portfolio.

To review, the 40-40-20 principle is 40% of your capital is in your safe bucket. It's lower returns but it might include active income and things like that. The next 40% is in a little bit of a higher returns bucket, but not necessarily risky. That bucket’s holdings are still solid investments. That's where the real estate category falls into. Then the last 20% is the shoot for the moon, shot for shot glory, burn your money, and lighting it on fire. We learned that from Dan Fleyshman at one of our masterminds as to how he divvy’s it up. 


Real estate makes up most of our portfolio. It's what we know, it's what we love, it's our passion, and there's so many benefits to real estate investing. I think another thing that is important to understand is not only deciding your percentages, whether it's 40-40-20 or whatever it ends up being, but then focusing on what your allocation is, what your diversification is, what your risk level is, those types of things. Then talk to somebody who maybe has more experience to give you some feedback and what you've decided. And then you can start making some really good, intelligent decisions, because you took the time to put in and think it through.
