    • Parenting

U.S. born children of mixed ethnicities may not relate to a single culture and simply consider themselves American.  It may actually be a shocker to them to find out that they are considered a minority in society.  In fact, the word minority may not even be a part of their vocabulary leaving them to conclude that it may be a bad word.

So what is a parent left to do . . . show them to embrace their ethnic background or encourage them to blend into the melting pot?  How does one explain how society might see them from an ethnic perspective when they feel there is nothing different about them?
