Kevin Emily outlines the foundation and formation of his Pathfinder books - ST432 Short Time Wrestling Podcast

    • Wrestling

What started as a project for Black History Month a few years ago turned into something bigger for South Carolina high school wrestling coach Kevin Emily. On Episode 432 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, we'll talk with Emily about his two books, Pathfinder and Pathfinder Vol. 2. Emily, who coaches at Midland Valley High School in Graniteville, S.C., has spent a lifetime around wrestling. Prior to moving back to his family in South Carolina, Emily coached at storied West High School in Waterloo, Iowa. His first book chronicles some of the early journeys of African-American wrestlers in the sport of wrestling, going back to the first black NCAA championship qualifier, Harold Henson of San Diego State. Throughout the show, Emily details stories and meanings behind why he turned his idea into a self-published book and then why he felt the need to push another volume out, creating what's more or less a Pathfinder series. Emily wrestled collegiately at Chattanooga. Check out the book and order your copies today at OptionalStart.org. The Short Time Time Wrestling Podcast is proudly supported by Compound Clothing.
