Marni Allison/ Lisa McDonald 06/15/18 "Living Fearlessly" with Lisa McDonald

    • Entrepreneurship

I learn just as much from my mentoring clients as they believe they learn from me! I absolutely love Marni’s love for life and her quest for adventure. Her insatiable spirit for travel and all the deeper lessons she has acquired along the way is truly eye-opening! on The Contact Talk Radio Network : https://www.ctrnetwork.com/lisamcdonald and you can find all links following live shows on my C-Suite Radio / C-Suite Network Host page!

Through a 25-year career in police learning and development, Marni Allison became an expert in problem analysis, research, design, delivery and evaluation. As she worked with experts throughout the justice system, Marni gained skills in leadership development, change management, dealing with diversity and communication techniques. For Marni, her career was a vocation rather than a job and she passionately believed her work directly impacted the well-being of police officers and the public they serve. Three of her proudest achievements were the design of a Bachelor of Police and Justice Studies for the University of Regina, a redesign of training for child abuse investigations in Saskatchewan and the redesign of recruit training to an integrated, experiential and competency-based model for the Calgary Police Service. In 2015, Marni accepted a retirement package from the City of Calgary and booked an epic five-month holiday. The trip was meant to be a bit of fun and relaxation before returning to full time work in Calgary. Little did Marni know the transformation awaiting her. Marni is currently writing a book, Life’s Lessons: How a Gorilla, an Orphan and A Monk Saved My Life. The memoir chronicles the challenging, humorous and even tragic experiences she encountered while traveling solo in Africa and South East Asia, as she struggled to recover from the losses of her parents, her job and her identity. Marni is now sharing her experiences and insights about life through storytelling. She blogs as she travels, sharing the history and culture of the countries she is visiting as well as her own experiences, challenges and perceptions. She recently posted an article Beyond Fear and Familiarity: Finding Safe Harbours After Leaving a Toxic Life for the online site Thrive Global and she has posted articles on Women’s Empowerment and #MeToo on her personal Face Book page. Evident through her writing, Marni is a proud Canadian, an intrepid traveler, an amateur photographer, and a life-long learner, teacher and mentor. Marni believes travel encourages us to move beyond our fears and to explore outside the familiar so we can meet the world, and the best version of ourselves, in ways we might not have imagined.
