I have an issue with the episode that began with the acknowledgment of the passing of Roy Ayers, Angie Stone & Dwayne Wiggins. Journalist turned journalism prof here, so I have to correct the naming of the “media” as the Third Estate. The press - via the First Amendment - is referred to as the FOURTH ESTATE and is the considered the watchdog of the other three - which is why Trump and crew push so hard to discredit it. Please don’t do the same. Media is how info gets to people (air waves, print, internet, etc). Mass media means one sender giving info to hundreds of thousands of unseen receivers, but isn’t always vetted NEWS (i.e. social media, blogs, etc). We are far from perfect (as is ANY profession), but If you aren’t seeing the press push back, you might want to check your personal news sources. Broadcast will give the quick version while encouraging us all to “stay tuned for more details.” Soundbites and video lead and stories are usually told in under two minutes, which makes subtitles and resolution hard to detail. Print - especially magazines - have longer news cycles/more time to present complete, vetted, fact-checked info. Please don’t lump journalists into one generic “media”basket. Without journalists getting in and ferreting out the specifics, we’d know NONE of the happenings in this crazy administration right now - which is exactly what they want. Words matter. Please don’t fault the press for doing what no one else can or is willing to do! Thanks for your otherwise great work, fam!
Almost there.

Great show, but I prefer when there are four hosts and especially when the ladies are in. I often question Myles’s takes, especially in terms of the criticism surrounding politics that he may not be an expert of. At times, I think there is far too much generalization of Black and queer experiences, which may leave folks feeling alienated. His candor is deeply appreciated. The progressive expertise offered by Deray and De’Ara set the stage for action in real-time, from elections to demonstrations. Kaya Anderson is a wonderful educator who maintains a firm calm throughout the most difficult discussions. I only recommend that the writers and team think of ways to activate, instead of falling into the doom spirals that have been catalyzed by bad actors.
Thank you! So inspirational and REAL.

In the Unprecedented Times episode, y’all have surpassed yourselves in your absolute honesty and sharing a realistic view of America which more real than what we are usually fed. Thank you. I’m sharing this with everyone I know. Plus you gave such real specific actions that anyone can do. A huge thanks and much LOVE from a Lululemon wearing white ( rural) woman.
