True Leaders

The educators/ activists/ journalists/ wonderful human beings that host this show are generating a must use syllabus for the lifelong UN-learning we ALL need to do in our collective fight against oppression and for freedom and justice.

As a cis queer white woman from California I grew up with enough privilege to receive an incredible public education that most do not have access to including many brave and ‘progressive’ teachers, and yet of course I still learned all the same toxic structures and hidden values of White Supremacy Culture, patriarchy, capitalism, colonization, anti-blackness, indigenous erasure, etc. and internalized and perpetuated all the same systems even as I fought against them intellectually.

This podcast should be required listening for ALL Americans and especially for White Americans. As a social studies teacher deeply aware of my own inherit power over the narratives of history that our children are exposed to, I am grateful everyday for the truth education so generously gifted to all of us by folks like DeRay, Brittney, Clint and Sam. This podcast should not be our only source of news, but it is a critical resource for disrupting the daily political news’ overemphasis on presidential tweets and bigotry rather than examining the root causes and LONG history of intentional discrimination, violence, and cultural erasure that laid the foundation for our country to look and sound this way today.

Listen to it y’all!

And thank you Pod Save the People from the bottom of my heart - especially that special place I have for fellow educators who continue to teach and fight for over-exploited communities despite the odds and structures of education! Your ripple is felt here in California and as a Curriculum Coach for a public school you better believe your messages are reaching our students and staff in my community with full support from a true administrator co-conspirator!!! We are so lucky to leverage and spend our privilege as school leaders and your perspectives keep us reflective and hopeful even when community members resist! Thank you!!!

Important for every American!

I grew up in an all white neighborhood filled with police officers & fireman. In school, we learn basically nothing about how deep systematic racism goes. It’s our responsibility to take matters into our own hands and learn the reality of other people.

It’s extremely important to listen to the podcast! Not only do they talk about what is going on & what we can do to create equity TODAY, but also they teach a lot about the history the US doesn’t want us to remember or discuss.

This is my only nonnegotiable podcast every single week.

The hosts are a stand for change in the world while being eloquent & incredibly knowledgeable. I appreciate them and this podcast more than I can say!

I could go on forever! Thank you!
