    Podcast 665 – Molly Mac’s Consultation

    Podcast 665 – Molly Mac’s Consultation

Paul’s latest victim is Molly Mac and her 1.5 acre peninsula in Massachusetts. It’s a windy place but has plenty of various trees and an overall shape that’s not good for berms, so hugelkultur it is! There’s even a convenient space for a Rocket Mass Heater. Podcast 664 – Red Cabin RMH Mk.5 – Part 2

Paul and Uncle Mud continue to discuss the red cabin’s new Rocket Mass Heater and what they want from future modifications and designs, such as a cob hat, a simple instruction set for dealing with cold plugs and such, and maybe a way, or at least a warning, for dealing with the outside of the […]

    Podcast 663 – Red Cabin RMH Mk.5 – Part 1

Paul sits down with Uncle Mud (Chris McClellan) to talk about the new Rocket Mass Heater in the Red Cabin, some history of the prior 4, and what they want from future designs, such as a riser made of firebricks, and bickering on how efficient the mass should be. Podcast 662 – Bonnie Bassan’s Consultation – Part 2

    Podcast 662 – Bonnie Bassan’s Consultation – Part 2

Bonnie’s consultation on her half acre plot of clay-full soil in New Mexico continues into topics of apple tree seeding, drip irrigation, hugelkultur, chicken management, the Ruth Stout method of composting, and just how Paul manages to stay optimistic (hint: it involves gardens). Podcast 661 – Bonnie Bassan’s Consultation – Part 1

    Podcast 661 – Bonnie Bassan’s Consultation – Part 1

Paul has a new victim in the form of Bonnie Bassan and her roughly half acre New Mexico property. The place has a lot of clay, 10″ of precipitation, and a lot of wind. Sounds like a perfect place for Hugelkultur, just needs a bit of irrigation for a while to build the soil. Support […]

    Podcast 660 – Orchard Gertitude

    Podcast 660 – Orchard Gertitude

Paul was talking apple orchards and commodity markets with Samantha when she managed to sum it up so well that he had to make a podlet out of it while also touching on the overall state of farmers, their pay, and how they’re getting screwed over by the markets. Some Truly Great Stuff Here

UPDATE - for a while now most of the episodes have been all about their mission and not about home scale permaculture or, most importantly, building soil and growing plants. So I’ve been skipping more than I’ve been listening.
——-
I listen to about 4 four hours of podcasts a day on news, science, software, finance (but all on double speed, so, it is actually only two hours) and I've been gorging on gardening, aquaponics, permaculture podcasts for the past couple months. This podcast is definitely worth a spot in your lineup if you like this kind of thing. It is definitely the best permaculture podcast ever and maybe the best gardening podcast too.

I've probably listened to almost one of these a day since I started this podcast a month ago. My favorites so far are the joint book discussions of Sepp Holzer's book and of Gaia's Garden. I wish more of the back episodes were available in iTunes, I would love to hear the whole series of those.

Not every episode is a gem, I didn't need three hours of content on electric tractors, and, if you are trying to convince me to give up soap, I need more than two antidotal data points.

Thank you Paul

Paul I have been a podcast listener from way back like around 2010 or something. Love to listen while I drive or ride. I have only now started to try my hand at growing (2021). Been working on planting as many different fruit and nut trees on my property as I can. Up to 20 trees with two of everything (on 1.02 acres in Louisiana). Keep going with everything you are doing because some of us are slow to follow your lead but we are out here trying.

Essential listening to any permaculturist or just looking for awesome inspiration

Paul’s podcast may appear a little esoteric. That’s because he’s talking about a subject he’s passionate about - permaculture. Permaculture is also a hard subject to get your head around. The fasts way to get that knowledge is listening to these podcasts and heading over to his website, which is what I did. It wont be long before they begin to make so much sense as your head fills with the awesomeness.
