Shallow U.S. Evangelicalism

This podcast, this church, embodies the shallow evangelicalism of the United States perfectly. While they remain, superficially, attached to the Biblical, they in fact are simplifying the gospel to a series of principles, clichés, and pithy statements. They embody everything which makes the white church in the U.S. a shallow tool of American Imperialism, and it does not engage well with the gospel, with culture, or with reflective thinking in any of its practices or sermons.

I cannot count how many times I have heard the pastors talk about how diverse this church is, yet it is located in a privileged part of the city, and is well over 90% Caucasian people, and the economic diversity of the congregation leaves much to be desired.

The leadership lacks any semblance of diversity, and has on numerous occasions forced out any on staff who have a differing view on what should be done, and how living the gospel should be practiced.

They do not value education, nor do they engage well or reflectively in what they do. To disagree with them, or to propose a new way of thinking more often than results in isolation and eventually a parting of the ways with this group.
