Why I Still Believe w/ Ken Silva (pt 1 / 3)
In this series, we want to give those of you exploring Christianity some personal examples of what it is like to follow Jesus… your chance to safely explore and listen with an open mind. And to give those who are Jesus Followers encouragement in hearing what Jesus has done in real people’s lives.
Can Christians Really Do Anything? [Think About It, pt 5 / 5]
Many passages in the biblical writings have been reduced to a set of pithy inspirational quotes. When this happens we set ourselves up for discontentment and a situational faith that can’t stand up to real life. When we use the right tools, however, we can discover the truth these passages are actually conveying and we can discover the life Jesus truly offers.
Is the Bible Against Women? [Think About It, pt 4 / 5]
Many people have rejected the Bible and even Christianity as a whole because of the apparent sexism and chauvinism found in the biblical writings. In addition, Christians often judge and argue with each other based on their own interpretations of these verses.
But, with the right tools, an open mind, and a bit of grace for each other we might be able to give ourselves permission to look at things from a different angle and try to understand each other a bit better.
Should Christians obey the government? [Think About It, pt 3 / 5]
Should Christians obey the government? Taken on their own, some biblical passages say “yes” while others imply “no”… but do these passages actually contradict each other? Often, when it seems like we have a contradiction in the biblical writings a little study can reveal something even better than what we think either passage is saying.
What are God’s promises to you? [Think About It – pt 2 / 5]
Taking “God’s promises” in the Bible out of context has led to a lot of disillusionment, hurt, anger, and worse. So how do we know what a text actually means? Are there any promises that someone can “claim” today?
Why is God so Violent? [Think About It – pt 1 / 5]
Reading, understanding, and trying to make sense of the Bible can be pretty overwhelming. Especially when it comes to passages about horrific violence committed in the name of a supposedly loving God. But with the right tools and some study we can start to make sense of some of the most misunderstood and misused passages in the Bible… and it might even change how we see God and our neighbors.
YES! I love this.
