    Be Uncomfortable

Poetry from the Woods - Original Poems and Spoken Word

    Season 1 - Episode 52: Be Uncomfortable

This last poem completes my year-long project with making sure we continue to challenge ourselves so that we constantly are uncomfortable.  Not uncomfortable to torture ourselves but to allow us to keep learning and evolving as a person.

    Rocky Road to Heaven

Poetry from the Woods - Original Poems and Spoken Word

Season 1 - Episode 51: Rocky Road to Heaven

A poem that talks through the struggle many have in terms of their religious beliefs and striving to make it to heaven in the afterlife.  I supposed this is an appropriate poem as we celebrate the birth of Jesus in a couple days.  However, no matter your religion I think this poem can apply to anyone.

    Small Town of Tragedy

Poetry from the Woods - Original Poems and Spoken Word

Season 1 - Episode 48:Small Town of Tragedy

This poem expresses the sadness in a town, really anywhere in the world, that is experiencing death all too often.  Even though I wrote this 25+ years ago and it does not have any specific relationship to an event in our world, I think deeply now of my hometown of Oxford, Michigan now after the tragic event of a school shooting just over one year ago now.  The pain the community and those closely connected felt during the days, weeks, and months following.

Poetry from the Woods - Original Poems and Spoken Word

Season 1 - Episode 47: Single Window View

We all have our perspective on the world, specific topics, geographies, people, etc. That perspective is only based on what we have experienced, seen, read, etc. There are multiple perspectives about a single topic because everyone experiences things through their lens.  This poem talks about trying to look outside our single window of life and see it through other windows.
