E6: Dr Mark Rozell, and the Unilateral Powers of the President

Episode 6 of the POLITalks @ TAMUSA podcast   In this episode we have as guest one the foremost scholars inthe field of American politics, Dr. Mark Rozell. Author of fourteen books, and editor or coeditor of over twenty more, Dr. Rozell is recognized globally as an authority on issues related to the unilateral powers of the US president, whilealso being a widely sought opinion leader on topics related to Southern politics, and to religion and politics in America. As an active teacher and academic leader, Dr. Rozell also serves as the Founding Dean of the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University, and as the Ruth D. and John T. Hazel Faculty Chair in Public Policy at the same institution. Given his rich academic and scholarly profile, in our conversation we touch upon a wide range of subjects: from his intellectual and professional trajectory, tothe history of creating and developing the interdisciplinary Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University, to - of course! - his seminal works on executive privilege, on the unitary executive theory, and on the US president’s various policy “czars.”   Also, here are some of the (non-political science) books andTV shows Dr. Rozell recommended: Fluke: Chance, Chaos, and Why Everything We Do Matters, by Brian Klaas; Contagious: Why Things Catch On, by JonahBerger; and the TV series The Pitt (created by M. Scott Gemmill).
