S3 Ep.8 "You Dig Like a Dog" The 13th Warrior

Our intrepid podcasters venture into the frozen North, following a clan of Vikings and an Arab who are called upon to help a Nordic King under siege from an unknown enemy. A mix of the epic tale "Beowolf" and the historical account of Ahmad Ibn Fahdlan, the 13th warrior has it all. Adventure, danger, story, action, humor ... yet, despite having Antonio Banderas as its leading man, it flopped upon release and is considered one of the biggest movie flops of its time.

We re-examine the film and discuss it's qualities and whether it deserves the criticism it received. Segments this episode are:
Intro, Discussion, I coulda done without that (Where we discuss something that didn't work for us in the film), Academy of Popped (new segment where we award best and worst actors of the film), Yeah, I know that dude (where we focus on a particular actor from the film), Trivia, and Let's Get to Poppin' (Where we rate the film with "Pops"), and our outro.

Grab your sword and board and get ready for a great discussion as we sail on a long boat over the rough seas to the north and discuss 1999's the 13th Warrior.

This show is the end-result of a long hiatus due to these deaths and a complete meltdown of Daniel's computer. Now that the computer is fixed, the Popped crew will resume their show but wanted to honor their fathers and the Popped viewers with an episode that explains their recent absence.

S3 Ep.5 ROBOTECH: An Interview with Kevin McKeever

S3 Ep.5 ROBOTECH: An Interview with Kevin McKeever

Daniel speaks to the Vice President of Marketting for Harmony Gold, Kevin McKeever about the 1985 hit anime series Robotech. Kevin covers the history of Robotech as well as that of Frank Aghrama and Carl Macek. Daniel and Kevin discuss the many products and projects that have been promised for years by Harmony Gold with Kevin welcoming fan question and criticism equally.

It's an eye opening look into the world of ROBOTECH through the eyes of a a Marketting Executive. Many fans have reached a point of exhaustion with what they perceive as endless excuses and unfulfilled promises by Harmony Gold and they view Kevin as the front-man for a company that has not delivered on much of what it's promised. Kevin does a good job of covering his bases here and gives somewhat of a timeline for when things can be expected to happen. That said, this interview happened during the SAG-AFTRA strikes so there is some open-endedness to certain projects many of us have waited for news on.

Put on your helmet, power up your Veritech, and get ready to kick Zendtraedi butt ... just make sure you have your radio tuned to our braodcast as we talk about ROBOTECH!

The Chameleons of Movie Analysis Podcasting

Tanya, Ben and Daniel offer great discussion of movies and have a laid back vibe that makes you feel as if you’re hanging out with old friends.

Daniel is the consummate moderator. He get things going in the right direction with themes, tidbits about a movie to look for and the occasional unpredictable wit to keep his cohosts on their feet.

All three have unique insights and have amazing conversation chemistry which keeps the listener engaged.

Loved their “top 5 teen movies” podcast!!!

They got three of mine:

Breakfast Club, Rebel Without a Cause and Pretty in Pink, but didn’t get “Can’t Hardly Wait” or “Twilight” which I had on my list.

Hmmmm..might need to downgrade my rating of this podcast from 5 to 3!!!

Just kidding!!

Whether it’s Ben sexy whispery deep radio DJ voice, Tanya’s unflailing loyalty to Zombies or Daniel’s spectacularly hilarious voice impersonations, you will not find pockets of monotony here if you’re a movie buff.

Love them and you will too if you give them a test listen: be warned: you will get hooked!!!

A fantastic delve into classics and niche films

This show has me sitting in my car long after ive reached my destination, just to get a few more minutes in. The gang all provide their own unique insight into nostalgic titles, and really do their research. I’ve had to take time to watch a few classics they recommend and it was well worth it. I would love to hear their thoughts on a personal favorite, Hook, with Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman.

Love the show, keep it up!
