From The Gay & Lesbian Review and producer haus of bambi comes an original podcast about “popularity” in LGBTQ Washington, DC. Host William Keiser (Queers & Careers, My 600 Lb Life) takes listeners on a roller-coaster ride through the iconic bars, circuit parties, gayborhoods, and queer kickball leagues of the District of Columbia to answer this question: is there an unspoken hierarchy in the LGBTQ community, and, if so, who gets to be on top? With special guests like Andrew Holleran, author of seminal novel of pre-AIDS gay New York Dancer from the Dance, and Reverend Brandan Robertson, one of the United States’ leading queer, progressive Christian ministers, Popular is a romp through the most powerful city on Earth as you’ve never seen (heard) it before.

Really enjoyed listening to this new take on a very old question about what it is that makes people popular. While it focuses on the LGBTQ community in Washington, D.C., it raises timeless questions. As I listened I realized that not much had changed, at least in one particular segment of the community, since the 1970s.
