Power of Care Leadership – Elijah Stambaugh Power of Care Leadership

    • Marketing

Elijah Stambaugh, founder of LearnMap, answers 8 Questions in 8 Minutes in the Power of Care Leadership series.

A native of Austintown, Elijah Stambaugh worked at the General Motors Lordstown Complex after high school. He graduated from YSU with a BS Ed in Middle Childhood Education and an MS Ed as an Intervention Specialist from Ashland University. After leaving GM, he took a teaching job at an Academy in Youngstown, one of 70 National Heritage Academy charter schools in 10 states.

After spending long weekends grading and recording the results, only then to discover what skills his students were struggling with and what concepts had to be taught again, he came up with the idea for Lightning Grader. The web-based, subscription application grades hundreds of pages per minute while at the same time generating robust reports about student performance. He founded the company in 2010 in hopes of helping teachers find more efficient, technology-based ways to understand and address student comprehension.

In 2014, the CEO of IlluminateEducation Inc, a successful and widely respected education technology business based in Irvine, California, discovered the innovative technology at a K12 education conference. After nearly a year of negotiating, Illuminate agreed to buy the company. As a Senior Product Manager, Stambaugh integrated the technology and earned a patent. He was a part of the strategy team and was promoted to a newly designed function of the business as the Director of Product Marketing. During that time, he helped the company increase its innovative product offerings, go-to-market plans, and pricing strategies to grow from 5 million students to over 17 million students in the United States.

Stambaugh is an investor and advisor in several businesses. He focuses on helping organizations increase their capacity by developing internal employee learning and development strategies and plans. He is also an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Bounce Innovation Hub in Akron, where he provides guidance to companies to help them develop their product/business ideas and go-to-market strategies.

Elijah Stambaugh and his wife Shannon have been married for 20 years and have three children. They live in northeast Ohio. They continue to passionately pursue ways to impact students.
