    Praestabilis – Excellence in Marketing – 034

Welcome to Episode 34 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing.

In Episode 34 the topic is around the theme of “Practice Makes…Excellence!” No perfection allowed and I discuss the importance of practicing your marketing with blogging and other writing, podcasts and other audio recording, and video marketing. It’s important to hone your craft before you reach out to others in your niche and influencers in the marketplace.

Small business owners and entrepreneurs are in the business of building relationships and “requesting attention” and that guides our actions as we grow our business. The goal is to build credibility, increase visibility, and aim for profitability.

We can increase our relational “currency” in a variety of ways, including:

    * Volunteering – online or in person with small businesses as well as non-profits

    * Connecting with thought leaders and influencers on social media

    * Purchasing a product or course from someone and developing the relationship from there

Thank you for this opportunity to serve you as I share my beliefs, perceptions, and experiences as an author, online entrepreneur, and marketing strategist with you. Marketing has become the joy of my life as I continue to learn, grow, and share concepts with others.

    Praestabilis – Excellence in Marketing – 033

Welcome to Episode 33 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing.

In Episode 33 the topic is around the idea of the five people you’re spending the most time with. Also known as your “inner circle,” these are the people who may help to shape you as a human being.

Inspirational speaker and author Jim Rohn told us that we are “the average of the five people we spend the most time with.” Over the years I have come to understand that this precept is about much more than just income. Rohn taught me to add up the income of my closest circle and divide by five to determine my average income potential. That’s one aspect of the equation but by no means the only one that will matter to you.

I think back to my childhood and the friends I chose to spend the most time with. Typically we became friends because we lived in close proximity, but they were not always the wisest choicest I could have made.

As an adult I continued to fall in with a crowd that did not serve me, meaning that they did not encourage me to succeed and many times discouraged me from trying to achieve a goal that was important to me, personally or related to one of my careers as a classroom teacher and in real estate.

Coming online at the end of 2005 helped me to understand this concept of seeking out people that would life you up and be excited for you when you were successful. Joining Rotary, an international service organization put me elbow to elbow with people who were unlike any I had known in my life previously.

I want this life for you! Take an objective look at the five people you are spending the most time with right now and ask yourself if each of them is helping you to improve your life and achieve your goals. Are you serving them in any way? And who can count you as one of their five people because you are encouraging them to become the best person they can be?

Thank you for this opportunity to serve you as I share my beliefs, perceptions, and experiences as an author, online entrepreneur, and marketing strategist with you. Marketing has become the joy of my life as I continue to learn, grow, and share concepts with others.

    Praestabilis – Excellence in Marketing – 032

Welcome to Episode 32 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing.

In Episode 32 the topic is how to use a challenge to create a blog post that becomes a simple, free product that can be extremely profitable over time.

The example I am using is that of the “Productivity Challenge” I have run since 2010. I began with 21 day challenges and soon went to thirty days as a way to connect with new prospects and to serve the people who had already been with me for years.

The first step is to choose a topic for which you can share your knowledge and expertise with others. I recommend that you begin with a ten or fifteen day challenge the first time so it does not become overwhelming to you. Once you have created your blog post (using the name of your challenge as the permalink) then you will purchase the domain name from your registrar. For example, my 30 Day Productivity Challenge for 2020 is at 2020ProductivityChallenge.com.

Every day you will add more content and information to your challenge, and be sure to include links to your own products, courses, books, and services, as well as those of affiliate products you use, benefit from, and recommend.

As your challenge comes to the end, copy and paste the content you have created into a Word document and save it as a PDF. Add the link to this report to the bottom of the post so that visitors to your site may download it and go through it at their own pace. This strategy is a solid one and I sincerely hope you move forward with your own challenge on the topic you are most knowledgeable about. Be sure to share it with me so that I may then share it with my community.

Thank you for this opportunity to serve you as I share my beliefs, perceptions, and experiences as an author, online entrepreneur, and marketing strategist with you. Marketing has become the joy of my life as I continue to learn, grow, and share concepts with others.

    Praestabilis – Excellence in Marketing – 031

Welcome to Episode 31 of Praestabilis: Excellence in Marketing.

In Episode 31 the topic is how to create and set up highly effective habits. The book I discuss and recommend is “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R. Covey. This book was first published in 1989 and it withstands the test of time.

    The 7 habits include…

    1) Be Proactive – Principles of Personal Vision

Don’t wait until you find yourself in the position of having to react to a situation; move forward on your own behalf and make things happen.

    2) Begin with the End in Mind – Principles of Personal Leadership

What is the goal you wish to achieve with the actions you are taking? Think about this in every area of your personal and business life. You may discover something more in what you are doing that can open doors for you, or at least allow you to be seen by others in a new or different light than has previously been the case.

    3) Put First Things First – Principles of Personal Management

It is said that the shoemaker’s children sometimes go barefoot. What do you need to take care of on the home front that has been forgotten or neglected over time? What about tasks and activities that are relevant and crucial for your business? I often connect with new and newer authors and entrepreneurs who are working on projects in various areas. Many, many times they have not spent the time and made the effort to lay the proper foundation.

A case in point is that of a woman who had created a product, but did not have a blog or other page where visitors could sign up to join her list. We were on a call with Joe Vitale and he gave out the links to each of our sites. More than a thousand people opted in to my list when he sent them to my blog. The other woman only had a sales page for her product and two people purchased that evening. Everyone else disappeared because she had not set up a way for anyone to opt in. This was a hard lesson for her and one I will never forget.

    4) Think “Win/Win” – Principles of Interpersonal Leadership

Leaders are made, not born. How can you make what you do in your life and business a win/win for others? Be creative as you think of ways to boost other people’s products, courses, books, and reputation. Something I enjoy doing is sharing a recent blog post from people in my community with others. This is a way for them to get their message out to a much larger audience and I am proud and honored to be a part of this with them. Sometimes the people share me with their audiences and it ends up being a win/win no matter what occurs.

    5) Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood – Principles of Empathic Communication

The word empathic means showing an ability to understand and share the feelings of another. Communication is something I work on every day because it was a struggle for me during my younger years. How can we communicate with others in a way that shows we understand and share the other person’s feelings? I believe this is an area that is worthy of further study.

    6) Synergize – Principles of Creative Cooperation

In my world there is no such thing as true competition; instead, we prefer to cooperatively compete and we refer to this as “coopetition.” Think about any kind of business, such as a grocery store or fast food chain and you will see that they engage in coopetiton regularly. That’s why it’s not uncommon to see a Burger King and a McDonald’s on opposite corners of the same intersection.

    7) Sharpen the Saw – Principles of Balanced Self-Renewal

If you only have five minutes to saw down a tree, spend three of them sharpening the saw. We must work on our mindset every day and I am able to achieve this goal more d...
