My Dog Won't Take Food Rewards
Training Dogs with Food Rewards - Version 2024
There is something every new trainer needs to know. If your dog won't take food, if it's not interested in your high-value food reward, it's either:
1 - full and not hungry
2 - it's distracted
3 - it's stressed
If my dog is paying attention to the screaming kids next door the dog will often find the kids more interesting than the food reward we have.
If my dog is stressed, because of the environment I have chosen to train in, the dog will not take food. Look at it like this: if you are scared do you feel like eating? Probably not. If you are mad, do you feel like eating, probably not. STRESS KILLS FOOD DRIVE. -

Principles of Dog Training I & II - New Content & Reduced Price
Michael Ellis
PRINCIPLES OF DOG TRAINING 1 and 2
New Lower Prices with much more content!
WAS $1,000.00 - NOW $750.00
We have recently lowered the price and added a good deal of additional content to our two courses that we produced with Michael Ellis titled PRINCIPLES OF DOG TRAINING 1 and PRINCIPLES OF DOG TRAINING 2.
We began offering these courses in 2015, selling them as self-study or interactive courses. We are no longer offering interactive courses.
We have recently expanded the self-study course to include 284 past student videos in PODT 1 and 120 past student videos in PODT 2. Our older self-study courses did not have any past student videos.
PODT1 has 187 instructional videos with Michael Ellis and his dogs. These videos total 16 hours of training.
PODT2 has 179 instructional videos with Michael Ellis and his dogs. These videos total 10 hours of instruction.
It has always been our feeling that new students learn a great deal by watching other "new trainers working with an untrained dog”. We all make the same mistakes when we learn how to train new behaviors. The past student videos and feedback in both of these courses are well-organized and will increase your understanding of the hurdles you will face when moving through the modules and segments of our course.
The price of both PODT1 and PODT2 self study courses has been lowered from $1,000.00 to $750.00.
When students finish taking these courses, they will be issued a Leerburg Certificate of Completion for their training records.

Very disappointed in the most recent podcast
Little tact when discussing veterinary medicine. Not all veterinarians are out for money as you’ve described. Yes, leaving your dog intact does put them at risks for some cancers as well as pyometras, that is science based fact. It’s up to a dog owner to assess the risk vs reward and make a decision from there. It’s a shame you’re basing your opinion off of very outdated experiences from long before you became a dog trainer. We as professionals in animal industry need to work together not against each other. I’m not a veterinary worker nor do I have spayed/neutered dogs so this isn’t a biased opinion.
