Prometheus Radio Theatre, a group of experienced Baltimore-area Fan actors, writers and directors, is embarking on what we like to think is a bold, new path (then again, maybe we're just deranged!) We're bringing original, SF radio dramas to Fan audiences at area conventions, and we plan to offer said dramas via CD and streaming audio in the near future. Our current project is an episodic series, The Arbiter Chronicles, which author Steve Wilson describes as "a sort of Hornblower the Vampire Slayer in Space." "Arbiters" tells the tale of young midshipmen (and women) in a future Navy, when the human race has expanded off earth, and things ain't as bright and cheerful as some might expect.

The Cattail Country Store: Spanish Moss

The Cattail Country Store: Spanish Moss

The Cattail Country Store is once again open for business. Of course, it’s only open when someone needs it to be, and that means someone’s in trouble. This time, it’s two girls named Sarah and Liz who wander inexplicably in from the swamps of Louisiana, and possibly from the pages of history.

Great Collection of SciFi Audiodrama and more...

One of the early podcasts with fullcast audiodramas and audiobooks (about 50-50). The main focus arre the Arbitor Chronicles which is a great SciFi series. The few negative reviews are just looney. While I am not one for audiobooks, these are well done and enjoyed them. This series is a must for anyone who loves audiodrama and SciFi.

Rape is treated so flippantly

In Praise the Titanic, we learn that Sestus is a rapist and was protected by his connections and rape apologists like Darby. So far, so accurate. The victim won't press charges because she's stupid and opportunistic. Okay.. depicting victim blaming isn't endorsement of the same so I'll allow it. Sestus learns something about power and mercy and how that relates to him raping someone is unclear but that's where the story ends.

I keep hoping the mostly morally good cast and reasonable authority figure will be interested in bringing Sestus and Darby to justice but no, the two wastes of skin stick around to be moustache twirling villains. Then Carson falls in love with Sestus and pleads for the good in him to be seen. What the hell?

It's like the author didn't recognize how serious of a crime rape is, how it can't be justified, and only used it to create a morally ambiguous character that we're occasionally supposed to sympathize with, thereby trivializing a heinous act. I can't abide by this lack of awareness and empathy towards the victim so I'm out.

Not your Father's SciFi

This started as Steven H. Wilson’s Theater troupe that performed audio plays at various conventions. He began doing original work called the Arbiter Chronicles. A demand for the work arose so he began podcasting the performances. Later he stated writing novels set in his world and that led to his own publishing house Firebringer Press. Now Prometheus Radio Theater includes work from other Authors from that publishing house. Arbiter Chronicles is a decent Space Opera and Heroic Park is about a world were all the Super Heroes have retired from heroics. Both are the current offerings from the site. They alternate every other week. It is great listening.
