Public Trans is a new podcast for trans people by trans people. An informal conversation between your hosts, Mac and Ave, Public Trans talks about what it means to be trans in the public eye, taking the structure of your morning commute. Through the Morning Cup of Gender, the Commute, and the Platform, we talk about the questions we often ask each other, such as: how do you pass if you don't identify as a binary gender? How do we raise children with or without gender? What challenges does the modern dating landscape confront trans people with? What are the failings of mainstream androgyny?
These questions raise different issues for trans people with varying gender identities, and though we attempt to explore the intersection of identity with these issues as much as possible, we acknowledge our viewpoints can be limited. That is why The Platform ends every episode. The Platform is a section of our show dedicated to contributions from our community and serves as a space for trans people to contribute their voices and thoughts about our episode's topic.
In Season One's finale, Mac and Ave talk about the real and present danger of gender reveal parties share their own gender odysseys.
The Waiting Room
In this episode, Mac and Ave tackle issues of trans healthcare, diving into what barriers to access exist for trans folks, how to find trans competent care, and our own experiences as trans people who go to the doctor.
This week on the podcast, Mac and Ave talk about social capital, what it means to be an "acceptable" trans person, and ask the biggest question of all: who gets to be a Public Trans?
On Public Trans this week, Mac and Ave talk about raising kids: if it's possible to raise them without gender, the ways that our childhood experiences shape our future relationships with our own genders, and parenting trans kids.
9-5 But Make it Trans
This week, Mac and Ave take on a transphobic new bill in Ohio, the need for more nonbinary-only spaces, and being a trans professional. Then we hear from you, our listeners, on the Platform, about your experiences being trans in the workplace.
Ghost Me Baby One More Time
Mac and Ave tackle evolving sexual attraction post-transition, transphobic dating preferences, and their experiences as trans people on dating apps.

Finding & listening to this podcast made me so emotional, because I got to hear other non-binary trans people talk about so many of the unique experiences I’ve also encountered. I definitely recommend this podcast to family & friends of trans people— and all (binary & non-binary) trans folks!
