PEP 14 - Picking the Right Bike Saddle Using Pressure Sensor

PEP 14 - Picking the Right Bike Saddle Using Pressure Sensor

Riding a bike shouldn’t be a pain in the butt. In this episode, Berkeley-based triathlete, coach and bike fitter Mitchell Reiss takes us to saddle school and discusses how saddle size, shape, cushioning, cutouts, and overall bike fit and riding posture all affect your comfort. Then we geek out with the super-cool Gebiomized saddle pressure sensor at Press Play Performance Lab to figure out why my lady parts hurt so much after long sessions on my tri bike. Follow along with the sensor images at www.pureenergypodcast.com.

PEP 13 - Ironman Cozumel Destination Race Tips

Boasting clear, blue, warm waters, vistas of beaches and palm trees, and smooth pancake-flat roads, Cozumel’s Ironman and 70.3 races sure sound dreamy. But I, along with Sam and Krista Gager, President and First Lady of Golden Gate Triathlon Club, can testify that no amount of beautiful scenery can make an Ironman easy. The three of us recently closed out 2014 with Ironman Cozumel, and in this episode, we share our race reports, lessons learned, and tips for conquering Cozumel and destination races in general.

PEP #11 - Nontraditional Running Shoes Reviewed

PEP #11 - Nontraditional Running Shoes Reviewed

"What kind of shoes do you wear?" That's a question I get all the time from new and not-so-new triathletes and runners, so this episode is devoted to reviewing the nontradtional shoes that I wear, as well as the other brands and types of running shoes that are relatively new or just lesser known on the market, such as Hoka, Skora, Newton, Altra, barefoot shoes, and the surprise dark horse of running shoes. Includes a primer on traditional shoes as well as things that impact your running more than shoes.

Bay Area tri-helpful!

A very informative podcast on all things triathlon related focusing on the SF Bay Area. I’ve gleaned helpful ideas for my own training and it’s also helped me get to know the triathlon community of which I am a part. Those doing destination races in the Bay Area from other parts of the globe will find useful tips as well. And there are some good laughs as well—Liz is a fun host.
