This Being Human is a Guest House. What is Rumi Trying to Say?
The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness
comes as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out for some new delight...
Listen to the rest of this short poem as I explore my take on Rumi's message and how glorious every amazing and miserable emotion can be, if we do these few things.
How will you treat these guests of yours?
It May Get Worse Before it Gets Better
In today's Qi Gets the Point episode, I am sharing a common occurrence that seems to happen in most any area of our lives. "Things" tend to get worse before they get better.
As a practitioner of Chinese medicine and acupuncture, I would often let my new patients know that it's common, especially with chronic conditions that acupuncture may make things worse before it gets better. In this episode I describe what I refer to as a Witches Cauldron effect.
The other day as I was on my morning walk, I was feeling a level of discomfort about a decision I made, and I immediately thought, this is the time it feels "worse" before it will definitely get better. This phenomenon seems to happen in every area of our lives... check out this week's episode as I explain.
Think or Don't Think; but if You Think, You Must Take Action
We live in a world of information overload, over-thinking, obsessing, indecision, and more. Our minds are on over-drive with all the worries, thoughts, and concerns of the past and of future.
We often think to the point of anxiety and indecision, where we actually do nothing, and then we worry some more about the doing nothing. Analysis paralysis is real, and it can also lead to mental, emotional, and even physical health concerns.
In today's Qi Gets the Point episode, I want to share with you some ways to:
1. Move Thought
2. Make a Decision, and
3. Take Action So let's go!

You Must Protect Your Qi
This week on Qi Gets the Point
Qi is Energy and according to Einstein, "Everything is made up of and radiates energy"
Qi then is everything, our life force, and it effects all areas of our lives, including, but not limited to: relationships, our emotions, our physical and mental health, our digestion, our movement, our sleep... just "all the things"
So, if we want to create or sustain an awesome quality of life, we must protect our qi.
This week's episode explores how. This is what's on my mind this week. What is one way, in one area, you would like to start protecting your qi?

Our Bandaid Culture
I am calling it the "Bandaid Culture" because so much of our lives is seeking relief from our pains.
We live on a pendulum swing of pain and pleasure, right? Mostly we are seeking relief from our pains.
They may be physical, emotional, mental, financial, relational, etc. We want help, and we want it fast... I totally get it! Raising my hand 🙋🏻♀️ Same. BUT...
what we are missing is the underlying root cause... we are forgetting to identify and address this critical aspect of our overall wellbeing, in ALL the areas of our lives. So, I thought I would share my thoughts, and "what's on my mind" around this topic and give you a couple of tips to contemplate how you can shift your approach to whole. In this episode, we are talking physical wellness emotional and mental wellness nutrition business and more...
I would love to hear your thoughts after you listen... it's only about 12 ish minutes.
Oh heck yes!!!
This has inspired me to get back all the energy and vitality that’s been lacking in my life lately. I’ll be tuning in for all your episodes! Thanks so much!
