Head Coverings: How Does 1 Corinthians 11 Apply Today?

In today’s Bible study, Wes and Travis discuss Paul’s instructions about hair length and head coverings in 1 Corinthians 11? Should men not have long hair? Should women cover their head in church? Were these simply cultural issues that have no modern application, or are there lessons and principles from 1 Corinthians 11 that still apply today?

Religious Holidays: Do Christians Have Authority to Celebrate Holidays

Religious Holidays: Do Christians Have Authority to Celebrate Holidays

In today’s Bible study we answer a voicemail question from Rachel about celebrating religious holidays, like Christmas and Easter. Is there a biblical precedent for celebrating these man-made religious holidays? Should Christians be in favor, opposed, or indifferent to the celebrations? And perhaps, most importantly, how do we treat those with whom we disagree?

Wes also dealt with this topic in a blog post, “Is It Wrong to Celebrate Religious Days Like Christmas and Easter?”

If you have a passage or topic you would like us to study, please send Wes an email or call and leave a short message at 707-238-2216. We may play your message on an upcoming episode of the Bible Study Podcast.

Singing with the Church: Why I Believe in A cappella Singing

Singing with the Church: Why I Believe in A cappella Singing

In today’s Bible study, we discuss what the New Testament says about singing and why many choose to sing a cappella in the worship assembly. But even more important than “how” we sing, we explore the biblical reasons for “why” we sing. We hope you enjoy this Bible study.

This Bible Study was prompted by a message we received from a listener named Chelsea, who wrote:

“I enjoyed listening to your podcast on rethinking our reasons behind why we don’t use instruments in worship. I had actually been wrestling with the traditional explanations of why we don’t, but at the same time remaining convicted that we shouldn’t use them in worship. Would you mind to do a follow up episode explaining why you believe we should sing Acappella in our services? Thank you for all you do through Radically Christian!”

If you have a passage or topic you would like us to study, please send Wes an email or call and leave a short message at 707-238-2216. We may play your message on an upcoming episode of the Bible Study Podcast.

Sound Reasoning and Kindness

This podcast takes a conservative approach explaining from the Scriptures how we ought to conduct ourselves in ways that honor God and love our neighbors as ourselves.

Long-Distance Discipleship

Wes doesn’t know me, but he is discipling me through this podcast. His love for God is contagious. He has challenged me to think more deeply about many passages of Scripture. I am thankful that he addresses issues that are theologically and culturally salient. In his conversations with guests, Wes models the virtues of charity, patience, and humility.

The production quality is excellent. The sound is great and the editing is seamless.

I think the podcast could be improved by shortening the length of each episode to 30 minutes. But I still give the podcast a solid five stars!
