    Ep 130: Fuera Trump

    Ep 130: Fuera Trump

We’re usually not this forward, pero the last tattered shreds of American democracy are on the line here, so if you live in the United States and are able to do so, we spend much of this week literally begging you to vote 45 out of office. We truly believe that we can create better conditions for organizing for our REAL liberation work if we don’t have a fascist in office, so porfissssss??? Also no nos imaginamos que pueda ser posible, pero if you’re a Trump supporter WE DON’T WANT YOU LISTENING! BYEEEEE!

Ep 128: El Movimiento with Jenny Mota & Gata

Ep 128: El Movimiento with Jenny Mota & Gata

As uprisings around the country forced people across industries to reckon with the ways racism in general and anti-Blackness in particular shows up, the music industry was no exception. As soon as Republic Records dropped “urban” as a category for music of Black origin, a conversation about the role of “urbano” in the Latin space began. This week, we are honored to have two of the people leading that conversation on the show: Jenny Mota and Gata (AKA Katelina Eccleston). We’ve had them both on the show before and we’re glad to have them again to talk about why we need to drop “urbano” and come up with an alternative.

    Ep 126: Rita Indiana

    Ep 126: Rita Indiana

¡Suenen las sirenas, regresó la montra pa comérselos de cena!

Ten years ago, Rita Indiana dropped El Juidero - a stunning work of Latin independent music that defined a generation of young Latinx weirdos who had never seen or heard anything like it before. Y después….desapareció. Until now.

She comes on to talk about her new album, the role of monsters as a reflection of the things society fears, why we need to organize ourselves, and why this album es un regalo pa to’ sus pollitos who have grown since the kids that felt seen by her presence way back when. En español, in English, en espanglish.

    Featuring music by Rita Indiana.
