Recommended - rail photography from the railfan perspective

Railway photography has undergone a resurgance over the past 15 years, revolutionized by digital cameras, social media and other technologies. However there are few channels for those with a more serious interest in the hobby to vent in. No, the opposite of vent - inhale. CRPA's excellent Conversations conference is usually only held once a year, it's perceived as a bit stuffy-arty by some, and attending carries a cost unless you live nearby. There are also regional foamerfests but here is a new option - a lively, accessible, easily digestible episode delivered fresh to my phone every week or two.

A few weeks ago I was waiting in the middle-of-nowhere for a train to thread through a pretty scene below when I remembered I had the first few of these on my phone.

Initial impressions were good - good editing, clear sound, good music choices and no droning presenters. This is more of a light chat show than formal interviews and presentations. Its easy to listen to, informative, amusing, often insightful and well worth a listen for the banter between the hosts and guest (and the cheezy adverts).

There is no better way to spend some time out on a hillside, waiting for that train that it seems will never appear...
