In the aftermath of the fire, one has to deal with losing their home, possessions, and even more devastating, a loved one who was unable to escape the flames.
Although house fires can reach extreme temperatures, they cannot completely disintegrate a human body. There is always something left behind in the ash.
That was, until the disappearance of the Sodder children in 1945.
