Real Minishow Ep. 68 - Goldbug

Real Minishow Ep. 68 - Goldbug

Based on the Edgar Allan Poe short story of the same name episode 6 of Fall of the House of Usher find that tensions within the Usher family reach a boiling point following the death of Vic. Tammy, amidst preparations for the Goldbug launch, grapples with paranoia over her husband's alleged affair with Verna, who has taken on the persona of a prostitute. Desperate to redefine the family's image, Tammy sees Goldbug as their chance to showcase the Ushers beyond Roderick and Madeline.
Meanwhile, Lenore grows increasingly concerned about her family's well-being, particularly her father's strange behavior since her mother's return. A meeting with her grandfather sheds light on his deteriorating condition. Juno, despite joining the family, confides in Tammy about her profound loneliness, contrary to her expectations.
Insights into Arthur Pym's travels and discoveries add intrigue to the narrative, particularly regarding Verna's presence throughout history. As the tension mounts, Roderick's absence at the Goldbug press conference raises questions, while Tammy battles hallucinations of Verna sabotaging the event.
The press conference takes a disastrous turn when Verna manipulates the presentation, triggering Tammy to melt down and have a violent outburst. Madeline confronts Verna, only for her to vanish mysteriously. Upon returning home, Tammy is confronted by Verna, who urges her to apologize to Bill before it’s too late.
Sam and Stormy also talk about the latest horror releases.

Saw Retrospective Part 6 - PIRANHA

Saw Retrospective Part 6 - PIRANHA

Okay, for real this time, the story of Saw III has reached its conclusion…three movies later.
Mark Hoffman continues the legacy of John Kramer by putting the insurance agent who wronged him through a bloody game of choice. Meanwhile, a nosey reporter tries to dig deeper into Kramer’s past by getting close to Jill Tuck. And a mother and son wait in fear while a barrel of acid clings to the wall.
    Everyone is connected…somehow.
Can you tell I’m tired? Because what was that?
This week, we’re reviewing the sixth installment of the Saw franchise directed by Kevin Greutert and starring Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Betsy Russell, Mark Rolston, Peter Outerbridge, and Shawnee Smith.
    We also discuss the antichrist.

Real Minishow Ep. 67 - The Tell-Tale Heart

Real Minishow Ep. 67 - The Tell-Tale Heart

Fun fact: Sam had a tummy ache while recording this episode and was being so brave about it.
Unlike our dear Roderick Usher, who finds himself incapable of making the ultimate sacrifice to save his children.
This week, we’re breaking down the fifth episode of Mike Flanagan’s Fall of the House of Usher which adapts Poe’s most well-known tale, “The Tell-Tale Heart”.
In “The Tell-Tale Heart” we follow an unnamed narrator describing their meticulous plan to murder an old man with a "vulture-like" eye. The narrator is obsessed with the old man's eye, which they find unsettling. They eventually carry out the murder and hide the old man's dismembered body beneath the floorboards. However, consumed by guilt and paranoia, the narrator starts to hear the old man's heartbeat emanating from the floorboards. The sound becomes increasingly unbearable, leading to the narrator confessing to the murder to silence the imagined heartbeat.
Meanwhile, in the show, we find The Ushers overwhelmed with grief as they bury the first three children who’ve passed. However, life has to move forward for the family as the case against them still exists. Vic decides to charge ahead with her plan to enter human trials for her revolutionary new heart device. Her wife, and partner, disagrees with moving forward and decide to break off with her and the entire family, exposing their terrible ways.

Saw Retrospective Part 5 - Mark Hoffman's Pouty Lips

Saw Retrospective Part 5 - Mark Hoffman's Pouty Lips

    It’s finally over.
    We’ve reached the end.
    Of Jeff’s story.
After a pretty lackluster start to a new trilogy, Saw V picks up literally seconds after the end of its predecessor, leaving Strahm trapped with the corpse of John Kramer. That doesn’t last long as he escapes his first trap and begins a cat-and-mouse game with Detective Mark Hoffman--Jigsaw’s chosen successor.
Meanwhile, a ragtag team finds themselves trapped by Jigsaw, and it’s a race against the clock to figure out how to get out of this twisted escape room. Oh yeah, they’re also all connected to each other somehow…but how?

Real Minishow Ep. 66 - The Black Cat

Real Minishow Ep. 66 - The Black Cat

And another one bites the dust.
This week in our minishow, we say goodbye to Leo Usher as he has a tough run-in with a purebred shelter cat. That’s because episode four is based on the Edgar Allan Poe short story The Black Cat
And things also get tense for the rest of the family as Roderick’s dementia comes out and he and his sister need to figure out a plan for the future of the business. Meanwhile, in the 1970s, Young Roderick finds out Fortunado has been forging his signature--so something’s gotta give.

We also talk about Sydney Sweeny's venture into the horror genre. And how hot she is. Sorry. We’re only human and she’s stunning. We are Sweeny stans though.

Saw Retrospective Part 4 - Jeff? Still Useless.

Saw Retrospective Part 4 - Jeff? Still Useless.

Saw IV is the beginning of a new era in the franchise. John Kramer is Dead. Amanda is dead. Leigh Whannel is no longer writing. And Mark Hoffman is here.
    What do you mean who?
Mark Hoffman. The cop who was in like 30 seconds of the last movie. Turns out the twist of IV is that a character that was barely established in the previous film is the true successor of Jigsaw. Kind of. Like Amanda, Mark isn’t very good at his job--in my humblest of opinions.
    At least he’s hot though.
We also look deeper into John Kramer and what made him the way he was. And let’s just say he had a really rough year. Listen, buddy, we all have rough years but that doesn’t mean we can all just go out and start “testing” “people” on their “will” “to live”.
