Mr. Coffee + Corndogs
From murdering dessert buffets to drinking gallons of garbage coffee at AA meetings, our girls spill the tea on what foods and bevvies they'd (almost) wait in line for. Flavored coffee, or nah? Are all fries created equal? Where DOES Shannon get her burgers from? Why Elisha will thrive on a desert island, Swiss Family Robinson-style, while Shannon will be dead within a week. And what's the best thing about convalescing in recovery after plastic surgery? You'll laugh, cry, maybe vom in your mouth a little, it's all good insight on who treats their body as a temple, and who eats like an unsupervised toddler at Golden Corral.

The Ego Trap Revisited
There seems to be a general surface level understanding of what the word "ego" actually entails, and it's long been framed in the negative - reserved for blowhard businessmen, or "egotistical" celebrities. BUT, everyone has an ego, and not all of us are narcissistic presidents, so how does your average Joe ego serve (and fail) you? Referencing the teachings of Eckhart Tolle (renowned expert of ego deconstruction) - and a touch of Buddhist theory - Elisha & Shannon dig in on what they believe the ego is, how it drives and "protects" us, and how to disentangle from its often unhealthy influence. Tackling the pretty big topic of "ego" is one of Elisha's current favorite hobbies (along with getting high on edibles and watching Ted Talks in bed with her New Friend), and Shannon's here to test our her new podcast voice on y'all, so you will not want to miss this honest, intensive delve into the great and powerful ego that directs us all from behind the curtain.

Questioning Everything
Kids are notorious for a bordering-on-pathological questioning of absolutely everything (non-stop, over and over)...and how a parent responds shapes the type of person that kid grows into. For example, if you were raised with a strict emphasis on compliance over curiosity? Well, there's a good chance you're now a chronic people pleaser. And those habits are super difficult to break out of - just ask Elisha, who is questioning with intent in her business, and her relationships. Or Shannon, who has all but surgically removed ego from her role as a business owner, welcoming questioning on all levels. And when you have the benefit of kids asking those questions that you've never really questioned, yourself? Turns out you could be a really cool, totally easy going mom raising confident, inquisitive kids who won't end up apologizing for their place in the world. Join us on this earlybird special of Real Talk, Real Change, where we're unraveling Enneagram types, learning to question everything we were once taught as true and correct, and pissing off members of clergy.

Enjoying the Chaos
Elisha's flying solo hosting RTRC today, but we've got a very special guest to fill in for Shannon. If you've been following along from the start, you'd have heard mention of the name "Joshua Sharp" many times, and it's just kinda fitting that Josh introduces himself on his and Elisha's one year anniversary of living together. Get a privileged peek into what's been a pretty unconventional relationship from the get go, and hear how Josh and Elisha - already separately on the paths of spirituality and self betterment - just happened to find each other at the exact right time. Josh shares how the past year has helped him grow - from relating to children as a guide rather than an authority, living soundly in the now, getting peed on as an adult, and how his and Elisha's very different ideas of vacationing have panned out. And wait until you hear how Josh describes his feels for Elisha (swwwwwoooonnnn). It's not often we get to eavesdrop the inner chaos and communion of a blossoming romance, and especially one this intentional and evolved, so please join us for the very best front row seats.

Getting a Clue
As we're dipping our toes back into what's "normal" these days, you might have noticed some people struggling to adapt. In today's Real Talk, Real Change, Elisha and Shannon spotlight our universal responses to collective trauma, and in particular, our own personal resilience. For those of us fortunate enough to survive the pandemic with our families and friend circles intact, there's still a lot of acquired anxieties to contend with. Are you feeling overextended in how you socialize? Having difficulty dealing with post-pandemic vaccination etiquette? Feeling vulnerable to "triggering" words and scenarios? We've got some real talk on sensitivity and personal responsibility, and some advice on how to refine who actually deserves your social energy. Join us for some solid tools on how to step forward from these Unprecedented Times into a you that works in your best favor.
P.S. We need your help coming up with a new term for "fan club" ("hype harem?"), so would love to hear some suggestions. Thanks so much for joining us on this awesome adventure, btw, and we're having such a blast making RTRC Reels on our Instagram.

Ep. 21 The Gone Girls Redeux
We will be back with a fresh episode next week but for now enjoy this very popular episode from awhile back. Have a great week and thanks for listening.
Breaking up is hard to do, but why aren't we talking more about the devastating heartache of breaking up with your best girlfriend? It's weird, right? Because basically every woman you know has been through this, and yep, it hurts waaay worse than breaking up with a lover. There's a very special type of friendship that occurs when two girls/women make that instant connection, a deep, obsessive enmeshment where you become joined at the literal hip. And if (or when) that friendship falters, it can be just as intense in its conclusion. Elisha and Shannon share their ex-bestie histories: the warning signs to look out for, how forming close relationships with employees can be a lousy idea, and that ghosting is a pretty shitty way to end things with a friend. And sometimes, those deep, trusted friendships grow toxic, as you love that person so hard that they learn they can get away with treating you like garbage. We're curious to hear your stories of "best friends forever" gone south, and especially from the fellas listening in - does this also happen to you? Do you settle your differences with a quarrel before heading out for mimosas?
