Great podcast when on topic

The episodes where they focus their conversation and time to the episode title are great! When they, mostly Ken Samples, wander or circle around the topic, the episode become too long and almost unsharable to non-Christians who would really benefit. Episodes that are focused and under an hour, well under is better, are ideal.

Also, show notes with the book titles and authors would be great. Been more than one episode where resources were rattled off. Again, for sharing for those interested, a text list would be a useful tool.

3 gods: the Trinity, St. Augustus, and Mortimer Adler

The 28:19 section of the show is great. My only complaint about that is I wish they spent more time on topics rather than a few minutes per segment. My low rating for this podcast is for Straight Thinking. It’s a shallow, pseudo-intellectual part of the podcast that spends far too much time circling around a version of the same 3 topics every episode: the Trinity, St. Augustus, or Mortimer Adler. The subject of the episode could be as far away from any of those topics as possible, but Mr. Samples always finds a way to incorporate one of those topics and spend half the episode gushing over it. It’s tiring to listen to and with the way RTB has made it the highlight of their podcast, I’m finding less and less reason to stay subscribed to them, in spite of my love for Dr. Rana and Dr. Ross. When he finds a way to limit his talking about those three topics, I find myself enjoying him and him raising good points, but without fail, as soon as I begin to think I will continue listening to him, he hijacks the episode to start talking about one of the three aforementioned topics. I hate to give a poor review for a generally good podcast that is ruined by one aspect of it due to the pedestal that aspect has been lifted on. Hopefully they’ll tell him to broaden his topics but given that he’s been doing this for years, I doubt it.

Sound and faithful. Thought-provoking.

Good variety of topics from theology to history to apologetics. Honest and open.
