Something Seems Off

I have been listening to RFR for years, and I can't help but feel that something has happened to jade Jimmy Mac and the fist pumping has shifted to Jason Swank. Listening to the podcasts over the last few years, something subtle has shifted in the presentation. I know there was a dustup with other SW podcasts attacking RFR with them being on top of the charts and Jimmy Mac was being rather activist towards Lucasfilm following Lucasfilm being overtly antagonistic towards the fanbase as well Chuck Wendig attacking fans. That said, it's still fun, but I can't shake the feeling something fundimental has changed in the podcast and it shows in the chemistry and the somewhat regular biting statements by Jimmy Mac towards various SW properties. Perhaps it has finally happened that Jimmy is the Get Off My Lawn fan. :) Still, it's a weekly download and that should say something. Cheers to all fans!

Why so negative?

I’ve listened for almost 8 years now, and I finally gave up. It used to be a fun show, listening to Star Wars geeks like me, talk about any snippet of news they could find, with lots of teasing out details and speculation, and great guests that brought a legitimacy to the show. Now, in the past year or two, the guests are gone, and the show has evolved into a facade of Star Wars excitement, making a almost continual complaining and nitpicking of everything. I finally gave up this week, when they started dissecting a snippet of a commercial for the upcoming movie, and how the dialog wasn’t “Star Wars” enough. Even though they reminded themselves a few times how the original films were similar to what they they just watched, but they couldn’t help themselves from devolving into nitpicking it and complaining how the characters didn’t act the same way they did in the original trilogy. The hosts will say they are excited, that they love Star Wars as much as anyone, and the tone will be upbeat. But if you do decide to dive in, be warned that it’s fake. Once you notice that negativity, just under the surface, and how often they complain, the show loses its fun.

Mentally challenged voice?

I listened to one episode, and the podcasters kept mocking people by doing what I guess is supposed to be the voice of a mentally challenged person...? It was very annoying and unfunny. Won’t be listening to more episodes.
