The Mystery Illness that Hit a Health Entrepreneur
Today I’m excited to bring you my conversation with Claire Rudolph. Claire was already the co-founder of the health startup WellTheory when she was hit with her own mystery illness and signs of autoimmunity. But Claire’s health really took a dive during the pandemic after she moved into a home that was later found to have toxic mold.
Mold toxicity is, unfortunately, an increasingly hot topic.
In this episode, we discuss…
· The symptoms that led to uncovering autoimmunity and later mold toxicity for Claire
· How Claire finally linked her symptoms to mold illness
· The types of practitioners that were most helpful in her recovery
· The key pieces of Claire’s treatment
· The importance of lifestyle changes in Claire’s healing
· The steps she took to heal her nervous system and limbic system
· Some red flags for mold in homes, plus home testing
· How Claire’s personal health experience influences her work at WellTheory
· And Claire’s advice for others facing illness
Claire Rudolph is Cofounder and Head of Product at WellTheory where she brings her experience in (and passion for) understanding and connecting people through technology. WellTheory offers evidence-based nutrition and lifestyle coaching to reduce autoimmune symptoms and help you feel like you again. The site provides long-term nutrition and lifestyle plans informed by root causes and tailored to the member’s evolving needs. Linking Lifelong Health Struggles with Vitamin B12 Deficiency
In this episode, I’m talking with Jamie Travathan about the power of addressing nutritional deficiencies, particularly vitamin B12.
Jamie’s health story started as a child with digestive issues such as severe constipation and food sensitivities. In her 20s, she began having really irregular menstrual cycles. And oddly, it seemed like she was aging prematurely. Her hair was turning gray, she couldn’t think clearly and she lacked energy. At age 32, she could barely get out of bed.
After seeing at least 10 conventional doctors, she began looking elsewhere for answers. She ultimately found she had pernicious anemia, an autoimmune condition that is one of the causes of vitamin B12 deficiency. Left untreated, it can cause serious neurological issues.
In this episode, we discuss…
- The gut dysbiosis Jamie found behind her digestive issues
- What is pernicious anemia and the critical importance of vitamin B12
- A vegetarian diet and pernicious anemia
- How Jamie brought her B vitamin levels back up to healthy levels
- The diet changes that helped Jamie heal her gut
- The energetic, mental and physical causes of autoimmunity
- The role of mindset in healing
- And how the steps she took restored her gut, brain, energy and hormones
Jamie’s health journey inspired her to become a health coach. She’s a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, a Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant and an emotional Eating/Addiction Coach. With those credentials, she works as an Energetic, Mental and Physical Nutritionist + Mentor. Jamie helps her own clients one on one, and she mentors health and wellness practitioners who are seeking to transform their health by using a blend of science, nutrition, energy and archetypes. She uses a triad bio-individual approach to root cause healing that includes addressing our energetic, mental and physical health.
Jamie guides women who are experiencing gut pain, fuzzy brain and low energy to awaken their inner goddess and become fully confident in their bodies and soul’s wisdom.
You can find her online at www.gut-goddess.com. And find Jamie on Instagram and Facebook at @thegutgoddess.

Hashimoto’s, Hormones, and the Gut: An MD’s Unconventional Route Back to Health
In this episode, I’m talking with Dr. Farah Sultan, an MD who shares her personal health turnaround. In many ways, her story looks like what so many of us women experience: crushing fatigue, gut issues, weight gain, headaches, hair loss, skin issues, and more.
Her OB/GYN said her symptoms were normal after having a baby and being a stressed-out medical resident, but her intuition told her otherwise. And like so many people we’ve interviewed, she was told her conventional lab tests looked normal.
When she was able to get more extensive testing, she was ultimately diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and found underlying infections and food sensitivities.
In the episode, we discuss…
- The foundational steps she took to feel better and get her thyroid antibodies back to normal
- How eliminating triggering foods reduced her inflammation and symptoms
- The infections she had to address
- The importance of reducing her exposure to toxins, including her mercury dental fillings
- Why it’s critical to take bioidentical hormones versus synthetic hormones for hormone replacement therapy
- And her tips for optimizing sleep so your body can heal
Dr. Farah’s experience inspired her to change her approach to medicine. Dr Farah Sultan is a medical doctor, board certified in Family Medicine and Functional and Regenerative Medicine. She has trained and worked on three continents in India, the UK, and the US. She is the Founder of Vitalogy Wellness and Med-spa and the creator of the Mandala Method. She is an international award-winning speaker and expert in sleep and hormone balance and has helped thousands of women regain their sleep, energy, and youthfulness without the use of addictive prescription medications.

The Lyme Boss on What It Really Takes to Heal Lyme Disease
We’re kicking off the year with a powerful and inspiring interview. When Heather struggled with life-threatening mental health challenges at 15, absolutely no one suspected Lyme disease - despite her being bitten by a tick two years earlier.
That was accompanied by bodywide pain, overwhelming fatigue, brain fog and memory loss, and gut dysfunction.
It would take more than 20 years of struggle, including multiple suicide attempts, before Heather finally received a diagnosis of Lyme disease.
She went on to try multiple Lyme-targeted treatments, but those ultimately were not what allowed her heal.
In this episode, Heather shares her personal story of overcoming Lyme disease and rebuilding her health after going undiagnosed for 20+ years.
We cover some of the lesser-known but vital angles of Lyme, including…
The most accurate Lyme disease testing How finding undiagnosed celiac disease, Hashimoto's, and endometriosis helped heal Lyme The lifestyle elements that are critical to healing Why what you eat matters The mindset required to move forward How Heather retrained her nervous system after years of illness Heather's journey inspired a career change. Today she's a Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist (FDN) Practitioner. After 27 years of undiagnosed Lyme disease, celiac disease, Hashimoto's, and endometriosis, she set out on a path to healing. She has now lost over 100lbs, her pain has lessened, she no longer has suicidal thoughts, and enjoys all-day energy. As The Lyme Boss, she now has a practice where she teaches others how to take care of themselves, get the inflammation off their body and brain, and gain control over their health journey. Find Heather at www.thelymeboss.com/, and on Instagram and Facebook.

Finding - and Fixing - the Personal Causes of Women's Hair Loss
If you are someone you know is struggling with hair loss, this episode will offer lots of insights.
Today I’m talking with Julie Olson about her personal natural health success story and particularly about women's hair loss.
Julie was working in her dream job in California when health challenges upended that. First, her mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Then Julie hit her own health roadblocks, which included gut issues, fatigue and hair loss.
Her mother’s diagnosis and her own health crisis led her to study functional medicine nutrition and solutions that helped her as well as her mother. Julie uncovered the causes of her health challenges, which included celiac disease, Epstein-Barre virus, the gut bacteria H. pylori, thyroid issues and food sensitivities.
When she addressed these, she rebuilt her health and was able to regrow hair.
In my talk with Julie, you’ll hear…
The conditions associated with her own health crash and hair loss The lifestyle changes and other solutions she found to regain her health and hair regrowth The many hair loss causes and the importance of finding the unique causes for each person Some of the lab tests that she typically runs to uncover root causes of illness and hair loss Julie Olson is a triple-certified Functional Medicine Nutritionist. After struggling with hair loss, digestive issues, Epstein-Barr virus, and autoimmunity, doctors told her there was nothing she could do about it naturally. Unconvinced, Julie made it her mission to restore her own health and help people do the same with natural solutions to look and feel their very best. With over 10 years of experience, working with functional and integrative practitioners, Julie has transformed thousands of people’s health. She is known to investigate, discover, and communicate root cause resolutions to rebuild health and naturally regrow hair. Founder of Fortitude Functional Nutrition, she specializes in female hair loss, gut health, and gluten issues, plus offers personalized programs that yield long-lasting results.
You can find her online at www.julieolson.com.
On social media, she’s at @JulieOlsonFN.
Julie is also offering a discount on Nutrafol, a hair growth supplement. She recommends the “Women’s Balance Hair Growth” pack as the best choice for women. At $209, it's $55 off the retail price of $264 for a 3-month supply. She highly recommends three months to see any hair regrowth. For men, find Nutrafol via a discount here.

Before we play this episode, I want to make it very clear that – as always at Rebuilding My Health - this was one person’s health experience of long-haul and also of what she’s seen in some of her clients. It’s not intended to help treat the virus or long-haul but to offer some insight into what worked for someone else. Everyone is different so talk with your health practitioner about your own case.

Overcoming Midlife Health Hurdles When Your Labs Look Normal
Have you ever been told that, despite feeling bad, your labwork looks totally normal? Today’s episode will be particularly insightful for women in their 30s-50s, but also holds some essential health insights no matter what stage of life you’re in. Today I’m talking with Dr. Inna Lozinskaya, MD. Like many women, Dr. Inna began experiencing health issues in her 30s, including fatigue, sleeplessness, hair loss, unexplained weight gain and miscarriages. As a hospital physician, she and her doctors investigated it with conventional labwork – only to find that her labs looked frustratingly normal. And yet, she felt anything but. Her search for answers would take her from Western medicine to Eastern medicine to Ayurveda and finally to functional medicine, which is about finding the root cause of illness. That’s where she discovered the answers and healing she needed. Then later, when menopause and new symptoms hit, she again applied the same functional medicine framework to feel back to herself.
In my talk with Dr. Inna, you’ll hear…
The health setback that led her to study some of the world’s leading health frameworks Why functional medicine’s root cause approach was ultimately the solution for her How she applied the four-legged stool of functional medicine, including gut-healing, detoxification, hormone balancing and lifestyle How she again applied the same approach when menopause wreaked havoc on her hormones And how this inspired a career shift for Dr. Inna to add functional medicine to her MD practice Today, Dr. Inna is a physician, international speaker, author, educator, mentor, wife, and so much more. She is a founder and Medical Director of Create Health Integrative and Functional Medicine center in Denver, Colorado.
Dr. Inna was originally a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Palliative Medicine, she studied Mind-Body Medicine and Chinese Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Medicine (ABOIM), fully trained by Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) and is currently training with the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M).
She founded Create Health center to help her clients achieve maximum vitality by resolving the root cause of their symptoms, instead of just offering more medications. Her wellness system helps men and women in midlife and beyond optimize their hormones and balance metabolism, restoring their energy, weight, sleep, memory, and taking their performance to a whole new level.
