#1985 How to evolve when competitors copy

Today’s guest feels that entrepreneurship is about giving yourself the freedom, the freedom to live the life that you want.
I’m fascinated by him because Lee LeFever co-created Common Craft, a site that makes technology easy for people to understand. Here’s are some examples: Google hired him to create a video to explain Google drive. Dropbox famously featured his video to explain the new idea of Dropbox.
I thought all these new video apps would have crushed his business. But they didn’t. He kept evolving. We’re going to find out how in this interview.
Lee LeFever is the co-creator of Common Craft which produces ready-made videos and visuals that help educators explain complex ideas quickly. He’s also the author of Big Enough: Building a Business that Scales with Your Lifestyle.

When I was a kid, I would watch infomercials the way other people watched sports. I loved selling. Well, today’s guest is one of the original creators of the infomercial.

I thought content sites weren’t making any money anymore. I thought if you’re not on YouTube or Instagram, where the money is, that you were completely ignored by the world.
Well, when today’s guest told me her revenue, I was shocked. Anita Campbell is the founder of Small Business Trends, a blog that covers the small business market and trends in technology.
I invited her here to find out how she built such a profitable content site with such a small, remote team.

Going downhill

Interviewer interrupts his guests, is disconnected on social media, and only seems to interact with his audience if he is selling a program.

I used to really enjoy this podcast, but it feels like Andrew just likes hearing himself talk sometimes. It’s embarrassing to hear the way he asks a question, and then ploughs over the person trying to answer.

Andrew, hear your reviews. Listen to us, you are turning away old fans because it’s just getting insufferable and painful to listen to you interrupt.
