Welcome to Red Velvet Seats! A podcast about movies, hosted by Emma and Jonathan. We're definitely not professionals, but we really love movies. Each month, you'll help us pick a theme and we'll watch four films that match. But please, no Nicolas Cage movies. New episodes every Wednesday.

Ep. 12 - Midsommar
Grab your flower crowns, we're talking about Midsommar (2019)! This episode, we chat about Ari Aster's second film with our good friend Kyle Sullivan! We touch on treating spiders with kindness, communal feeling, and DRUGS. This movie is a wild ride and Kyle was the perfect person to chat with about it.

Ep. 11 - Lady Bird
Let's get nostalgic! This week, we watched Greta Gerwig's solo directorial debut Lady Bird (2017). We chat about mother-daughter relationships, Timothee Chalamet, and furibies. Yikes.
Are you enjoying having Red Velvet Seats back in your life? We sure are! Please leave a little review and rate us 5 Stars in the podcast app! -
Ep. 10 - The Blackcoat's Daughter
Two weeks in a row of doing the podcast thing, go us! This week, we're talking about The Blackcoat's Daughter (2015). We chat about demon possession, mental illness, the wrongful blurring of the two, and loneliness. Also how Oz Perkins deserves WAY MORE LOVE.

These people don’t make you feel dumb
They talk about movies in such a way that it invites you to take part in the discussion. It’s super cool to see this from a podcast that’s so early-on in its existence. Very excited to see where it goes!
🙌🏼 🍿
Gosh, thank you. I love hearing all the fun facts that give a deeper appreciation (or for Pretty in Pink, frustration that she didn’t end up with Ducky) for the movies.
Also I have been thinking about movies I like and using the Bechdel Test on them now. (Bummer news, Harry Potter doesn’t pass...)
Can’t wait for more 👌🏼
A Promising Start
A wonderful start to a promising podcast. With an intriguing format (monthly themes with a weekly release schedule) and noticeable chemistry between the two hosts, Red Velvet Seats sets out to deliver an interesting contribution into the film podcast genre.
Episode 0 was a welcomed start that established the personalities and qualifications of our two hosts, and providing a humanizing start to the podcast. The humor is natural and earned, bringing a light tone to the overall project. The discussions on film remain light and intriguing, so a rigorous dedication to cinema is not a prerequisite for listening to the show.
Some dead air between discussions and first-episode jitters are to be expected of beginner hosts, but any reasonable listener would be able to quantify these “flaws” as kinks to be ironed out through further experience.
In summary, recommend this to your friends and invest ground zero: This podcast has the potential to flourish into something special.
Author recommendation for potential monthly themes:
-Avant- garde month
-A month dedicated to A24 studio films of the past few years.
