All-American Nativism
This week we're joined by Daniel Denvir, Host Jacobin's @thedigradio podcast. Fellow @ watsoninstitute and author of All-American Nativism. His book is a must read for those who are trying to understand our immigration history and how exactly we got to this point.
We recorded Friday morning before the news of the newest muslim ban. We will be discussing that next week. It's impossible to stay on top of the news these days, frankly.

There IS a Line
Quick episode this week as a solo Stephen addresses reemerging concerns about "chain migration" and arguments that immigrant families should do it the right way and "get in line."
Stephen breaks down a typical timeline for immigrating and bringing close family members over with examples, providing a concise explanation you can share with friends and family.

Kushner's Got This
This week on Redirect: Immigration Law & Perspectives, Matthew and I discuss the new asylum "agreement" with Honduras. Acting DHS secretary Chad Wolf was just in Honduras, shaking hands with President Juan Orlando Hernandez, the man who was recently implicated in a massive drug trafficking scheme. You can read about it here:
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/18/world/americas/honduras-president-brother-drug-trafficking.html
Meanwhile, Jared Kushner, the man who has been tasked with brokering some kind of immigration "solution," thinks that low refugee numbers are no big deal given the scale of the global problem. Kushner's grandparents came here after surviving the holocaust, and our admissions process then was so restrictive they had to lie to get their visas.
