Rescue, Fostering & TNR Plus Pets & Our Mental Health The Story of My Pet: Inspiring Stories of Animal Rescue, Fostering & Adoption

    • Pets & Animals

In Episode 4 of The Story of My Pet Podcast I welcome my guest, Desiree Argentina. Des and I chat about her rescue work with cats in both New York and Colorado. We discuss the importance of fostering and volunteering for local shelters. Most importantly, fostering needed for orphaned kittens and mom cats with their litters which place huge demands on shelters and small rescue groups. Des explains the process of TNR and TSR (Trap Neuter Release or Trap Spay Release) for feral cats to reduce the breeding and exponential growth in those colonies.
Des is therapist that is passionate about helping people to improve their mental health. She works with kids and teens in middle and high school and promotes the powerful and positive impacts animals have on our mental health. She also has a podcast, The Wellness Project with Des, where she talks all things health and wellness including best practices and education related to our mental health. You can follow her and learn more about her podcast on Instagram @the.wellness.project.with.des
As an animal advocate, Des runs her own cat rescue called The Cat Rescue Crew. Through this organization, her and her partner rescue and foster cats. They volunteer with local shelters and conduct TNR and TSR for the feral cat colonies in their local community in Denver, Colorado. You can follow and learn more about the rescue at the links below.
