One Of Our Own

I’m an avid listener from New York and an hour of Matt, Paul and their great guests really makes me feel like I’m back home in Nottingham and amongst old friends. The podcast never fails to make me smile, and is essential listening for even the most casual of Forest fans.

Would just love for Paul to get a better mic so he’s a bit more present!

Snowed out

It was a trip home in the early 90’s but was as tough as they come. I was 10 or 11 and after our normal hours drive to the city ground the game commenced but was shortly called off. I believe v Tottenham but i was a young lad and the following events took precedence. We started the game but as the snow obscured the pitch and we couldn't see the half way line due to a freak blizzard. We were used to an obscured view as we sat behind Mark Crossley in goal but it was apparent it wouldn’t go on much longer.
The game was called so we headed home. The snow continued to fall and the roads were a crawl. Stuck in the car halfway back to Rutland we ran low on petrol only for the petrol stations fuel to haven frozen in the freak weather. The crawl continued. After a couple of hours a lorry in front of us was blown off the road. My heroic brother (Al Bond from previous episode) climbed up the cab and had to pull the driver out of the truck. After the rescue and ensuring he wasn't going to freeze on the side of the road we continued home. I believe after almost 5 hours we arrived home cold and miserable. Thankful to be home i was about to head to a very late bed when my Dad announced ‘better hurry up, you've got school in 4 hours!’
Though not a trek through the amazon this certainly stuck with me always.
Thanks for the podcast, excellent stuff. Live in the states bow but able to follow the reds on iFollow and with you guys.
Always thought the Adam Ant Paul McGreggor chant was real as my brother constantly sang it. Do recall the false start in the B block. Excellent time to be a youth in the main stand. Thanks to my older Brother Alistair Bond for instilling a love of the game in me and my Dad for his unused season ticket!
Anyway thank you guys and love the cast.
Love you, BYE!
