The Big 80!, Pharmacist Bribes, Rx For An OTC Item, Adding OTC Meds To Pt Profiles

You know I can't hit a milestone like the 80th episode without celebrating at least a *little* bit. So there's that. Also, this week we get into your patients/drs of the week including patients who try and bribe a pharmacist and another who wants a vaccine given in the air (not kidding). We end this jam packed episode with 2 topics dealing with OTC items: the headache that comes when patients have an rx for an OTC item and asking for/adding OTC meds to a patient profile. Enjoy!

Patients & Drs Of The Week, NY Times Article: Our Voices Are Heard

What a show. Like, really... what a fun, fantastic, freaking phenomenal show. Okay, I'm probably over-selling it but I came into this episode tired and unprepared and YOU guys delivered with great pts and drs of the week including pts who throw things at you and drs who don't re-read their rxs before sending them in. Also, can we PLEASE talk about this NY Times article (and the response by CVS)?? Let's go!

The Best Type Of Pharmacy Shift, A Refill Request From 2005, Inappropriate Patients

The Best Type Of Pharmacy Shift, A Refill Request From 2005, Inappropriate Patients

It's the end of January but that doesn't mean the end of the insurance/new year insanity in the retail pharmacy world. In this week's episode, we get into the best type of pharmacy shift you could have, a ton of your patients of the week, and round it out by discussing patients who can sometimes do or say things that make you uncomfortable. It can very tricky to navigate a situation with a patient who says something inappropriate. One thing is for sure, you're not alone. Enjoy!

Patients (And Doctors) Of The Week, Pharmacy Robberies

Patients (And Doctors) Of The Week, Pharmacy Robberies

This week is a jam-packed show. Why? Because YOU guys brought the patients of the week. We get into your patients the entire episode which, let's be honest, is my favorite type of ReTell episode. Your patient stories this week include those who want you to call another pharmacy to see if they have an OTC item, some dr/nurses of the week (also my favorite) and we get to sum it all up with a positive patient of the week - even better. Lastly, pharmacy robberies: It's important, let's discuss it. Enjoy!

Make It Hurt So Good, Transferring An Rx In/Out, Your Top 3 Drugs On A Deserted Island

On the episode this week, we jump into your patients of the week including those who say you "aren't busy" just because the line is short. Also, transferring Rxs in and out of the pharmacy over the phone is a very regular part of our jobs... and it comes with it's own interesting interactions. Last, but certainly not least, we dive into YOUR top 3 drugs to have on a deserted island. Enjoy!

Million/Billion Dollar Pharmacy Ideas, Patient's Attitude Determining Outcome

Million/Billion Dollar Pharmacy Ideas, Patient's Attitude Determining Outcome

This week is a special episode... because I share with you my million (and by million, I mean BILLION) dollar idea for improving our workflow in the new year. And through a patient of the week submitted by YOU, we stumble across a potentially new million dollar idea. More patients of the week including those who want to give you every single type of ID they have except for a driver's license. Finally, we end with the ethical dilemma that, often times, a patient's attitude can affect your decisions. Enjoy!

Hits perfectly!

This podcast hits on the everyday things retail pharmacy workers deal with perfectly. As a chain retail pharmacist for almost 5 years, I definitely recommend listening. It’s a great way to let off some steam, but also a good reminder that not everything is negative and we are all in this together. Thanks Mitch!

Thank you Mitch!

I’ve been a technician for about 7 years, my coworkers and I all used to joke about how we could legitimately make a reality show or write a book of short stories about what goes down in the pharmacy. I think what Mitch has done with the podcast is brilliant! It really feels like we’re all venting about these ridiculous scenarios together and it’s nice not to feel so alone :)
