The prognosis of gastric cancer is closely related to the stage of diagnosis. Early gastric cancer (EGC) is limited to mucosa and submucosa and when found early it has a greater than 90% survival rate. Therefore practitioners should be aware of the risks of EGC and recognize the symptoms that are commonly associated with GI malignancies.

Define the scope of gastric intestinal (GI) cancers. List the risks, red flags and symptoms of GI problems that are associated with GI malignancies. Describe the applicable screenings and diagnostic guidelines. Discuss the role of the multidisciplinary team in the treatment of GI cancers.
