Old school fans with great analysis
As an old school Supernatural fan with a deep love for Dean Winchester, this pod feels tailor made for me. The hosts are hilarious and thoughtful, they give themselves the space to change their minds about characters and storylines while being unapologetic about their bias and the things they enjoy the most. It’s the kind of perspective you can only get with distance from the show and fandom. They are also very funny and give excellent recs at the end of each episode.
ride-or-die for Ride or Die
When I heard that two of my favorite fan authors *of all time* were making a Supernatural pod, I knew (with equal parts enthusiasm and the long-suffering dread of an ex-fangirl who feels herself being pulled back in to SPN) that I’d have to listen.
RoD did not disappoint. It’s funny, irreverent, and thought-provoking, and really brings back the feeling of watching S1 for the first time. Heavily recommended listening for any past (or, g-d forbid, present) SPN fanatics.
Meh
The podcast can definitely be funny at times, but when it comes to meaningful analysis, either there is none or when there is, it’s very surface level. The hosts uncontrollably laugh about things they liked or disliked and that is the bulk of the episodes. It’s fine enough if you’re looking for some laughs, but if you’re looking for in-depth conversations about the characters and the plots, I wouldn’t recommend it.
