Unplugged from the Matrix, Sumeena Gupta Is Taking a Year to Travel the World, Unschool Her Three Children, and Pursue Her Own Dreams Rise and Climb

    • Entrepreneurship

Traveling derailed her life completely, says Sumeena Gupta. It freed her from the corporate world where she felt like she was "on the treadmill or plugged into the Matrix."

This year, she will travel all over the world, unschooling her three children, while overseeing the beautiful resort in Bali that she owns with her husband.

"I'm Asian with an Indian background, and we're expected to do certain things like get a good job, buy a house, get married, have kids ... and I was very much on that path, doing what I thought I had to do. And then my husband and I decided to travel at 30, and it just changed everything. It derailed us completely."

We recorded this interview while she was in Argentina, but she is now in Peru. In February, she will be in Guatemala!

It takes a lot of courage to forge your own path, going against traditional norms and family expectations. Sumeena shares with us how she makes calculated risks, builds security around her decisions, and then jumps.
