    Words of Encouragement Before Your Dog's CCL Surgery

    I remember how scared I was when I found out that my dog tore his CCLs. I admit - I cried a lot. I was afraid that surgery would ruin him or that he'd have a post-op infection or some other surgical setback. I read too many scary stories online, each one conflicting with the next. The more I read, the more confused I became. After I realized that conservative management wasn't working well enough, I had no other choice but to move forward with surgery. I chose TPLO. He got the first one and healed wonderfully. He had the second TPLO eight-months later. Having gone through two recoveries, my mission was to help other dog owners not go through the stressful ordeal that I experienced. It was the catalyst for lots of good things: writing the book, The Essential Dog Owner's Manual for CCL Injury, starting a website and private Facebook CCL Surgery group and then writing blog articles. Today's episode is me reading the most popular of my blog posts. If your dog is scheduled for surgery, I hope that hearing this brings you comfort.
