Jordan McMeans: Marathons, Law School, and Viral Fame
JORDAN MCMEANS is a 2:29 marathoner and the undisputed king of running/oat TikTok. Hailing from Southington, CT, Jordan is a senior at Villanova University and is preparing to head to law school in the fall. In addition to his pursuits as the former president of the club running team and his job at a local law firm, Jordan is also a celebrity influencer who works with Hoka One One - you may have seen him in their instagram stories and livestreams! In his spare time, Jordan is passionate about social causes, Taylor Swift, and interior design (the man has a print of Van Gogh’s Starry Night next to a Cardi B poster… didn’t have to flex on us so hard!?!)
Parley Hannan: Unlimited Salad, Breadsticks, and an NCAA Title
PARLEY HANNAN is a NCAA XC individual champion, NCAA record holder, and 16:05 5k runner who is currently a senior at Ithaca College. Parley hails from Scarborough, Maine and came to Ithaca via the Westover School in Connecticut. Parley’s story is incredibly interesting and unique as she came to track and field much later than most runners who have enjoyed the kind of success she has put together in college. Parley also played college tennis before she joined the cross-country team. In her spare time, Parley loves to spend time with her dog Betty, who’s probably the cutest pup on the entire east coast.
Liam Murphy: From Phys Ed to the Blue Jeans Mile
LIAM MURPHY is a senior at Springfield College and a 16:40 5k runner. Murph hails from storied NY state high school Carmel, where he shared the track with multiple All-Americans. Perhaps Murph’s most impressive achievement is running an outright mile PR in a 100% cotton pair of blue jeans. Murph is looking forward to finishing out his collegiate career strong and gives us some insight into what NCAA T&F looks like in the age of COVID.
Melissa Mele: Sun, Sand, and Sort of Knowing Professional Runners
MELISSA MELE is a Boston-based distance runner from St. Augustine, Florida. Mel did not run in high school or college, but took up the sport after graduating college, tackling both the half and full marathon in short order. Mel has recently jumped into the world of cycling, having recently purchased a road bike, and she is also an avid hiker. We talk poop, professional runners, snowshoes, Lake Street Dive, and much more!
Sam Layding: Our Ultramarathoning Ivy League King
DISCLAIMER: This episode was recorded before Thanksgiving, but as you all know, sometimes life gets in the way. Runderdogs will return to its normal every-friday cadence this week, but this episode is our Christmas gift to you 3
SAM LAYDING is one of my best friends and a 30:44 10k runner and alumnus of Lehigh University. Sam is currently studying at the University of Pennsylvania where he is pursuing his PhD in Chemical Engineering. Sam is also a member of the Philly Runner Track Club, Pennsylvania’s premier amateur track club. In his spare time, Sam enjoys listening to a wide variety of music and perusing memes related to the classic Valve videogame Half-Life 2.
Pat Cunningham and Michael Weidenbruch: Duel of the Fates
PAT CUNNINGHAM is a 2:29 marathoner and an alumnus of Northeastern University, where he served as captain of both the cross-country and track and field teams. Since graduating, Pat has competed for the Tracksmith Racing Team, where’s he’s been tearing up the New England road racing scene. Pat works at Marathon Sports in Wellesley, where you can catch him manning the Aetrex machine and serving up dope shoe fits. In his free time, Pat enjoys dank memes and playing MLB The Show 19.
MICHAEL WEIDENBRUCH is a 15:30 5k runner and an alumnus of American University, where he was a member of the varsity XC and track teams for 3 years. Michael has struggled with a number of bone injuries over the last few years which made it difficult to compete but when he can make it to the line he races hard. Recently, Michael has become an avid cyclist and in his spare time is a contributing writer at the Stride Report.
