Running and Motorbikes don't mix with Andrew Blizzard Running 44@60 - tips, ideas and advice for your first ultra marathon or marathon

    • Running

Throughout the summer of 2022 my club colleague Andrew Blizzard was training in readiness for the pursuit of a sub three hour marathon in October.

Towards the end of August during a speed session Andrew crossed a back road leading to an industrial estate and having manoeuvred around a car simply failed to notice a motorbike.

The upshot was a very smashed up leg.

In this episode of the Running 44@60 podcast Andrew recalls the accident and shares the rehabilitation programme he has undertaken and the goals he has set to get back running.

Andrew's accident happened in a split second.

He talks about having to adapt to not only not running but also not working and the mental as well as physical challenges this is brought, as well as the upsides and in particular the time spent with his young family which ordinarily he wouldn't have done.

This is episode 101 of the Running 44@60 podcast. You can access and download the previous 100 episodes via your usual podcast app or follow this link.
