S-Town is a new podcast from Serial and This American Life, hosted by Brian Reed, about a man named John who despises his Alabama town and decides to do something about it. He asks Brian to investigate the son of a wealthy family who's allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But when someone else ends up dead, the search for the truth leads to a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and an unearthing of the mysteries of one man's life.
“If you keep your mouth shut, you’ll be surprised what you can learn.”
“Has anybody called you?”
“Tedious and brief.”
“If anybody could find it, it would be me.”
“Nobody’ll ever change my mind about it.”
“Since everyone around here thinks I’m a queer anyway.”

This story is simultaneously random, discovery-channel-esque, upsetting, poignant, and intentional. The host did a phenomenal job weaving stories throughout and keeping things uncensored and authentic. I had no idea where it would go in the beginning, and I still don’t really know where the story went, but I enjoyed every minute of it.
Amazing story I hope that someone gets that money and does some good. Do you think his mother was also suffering from mercury poisoning?
Still don’t understand how I got so invested in this story. I binge listened over 24 hours. I did not a or to the twist and turns. I’m definitely committed to grabbing life and love now.
