Conference Room C: Where the culture meets.

A virtual safe space for young Black professionals to explore all things working while Black with an emphasis on what organizations can do to optimize the Black employee experience. Dr. A facilitates critical and thought-provoking conversations with the goal of validating, empowering, and elevating the voices of young Black professionals. She also brings voices straight from the culture to the conference room with an interactive segment called Dear Dr. A. Allies are welcomed! New episodes are released twice a month.     This week in Conference Room C, Dr. A & her guest discuss being a Black professional with an invisible disability. Working while Black can be hard enough dealing with social and historical contexts, discrimination, and more. But dealing with that while also managing a chronic health challenge can seem insurmountable.  Host Dr. A is joined by Juliet Romeo—Writer, Director, and Creative. Together, Dr. A and Juliet tackle the questions of how Black professionals can navigate the workspace with an invisible disability and how we create safe spaces for those that are managing in silence.

Host Dr. A is joined by guest co-host Joy-Nicole Smith-- the founder of The Joy of Learning & international STEM educator-- and Dr. Jami Valentine Miller-- the founder of African American Women in Physics (AAWIP) and the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in physics from the Johns Hopkins University.

    The success or failure of any organization rests in the hands of its leaders.  Now, imagine such immense responsibility while navigating the regular twists and turns of the leadership journey AND being affected by systemic discrimination, racism, and feeling like you're under a microscope. Sounds like a lot, right? Being a leader can be extremely rewarding however organizations should not ignore the unique challenges associated with leading while Black. To discuss these challenges and what organizations can do to mitigate them, host Dr. A is joined in Conference Room C by founder of CPT Consulting and serial entrepreneur Christopher Talley, finance professional and experienced leader Alethia O’Hara-Stephenson, and certified career coach and best-selling author Alex D. Tremble Jr.  The episode ends with practical advice that will set any early to mid-career young Black professional up for success!

The episode ends with a heart wrenching Dear Dr. A segment that addresses biases young Black professionals may encounter as they seek employment.
